Hello all

I have an assignment that I need to choose three places I would be interested in writing about. These places, people, or things must be in NYC. So NYC opponauts I cant think of a third subject. So far I have Willets Point and the Classic Car Club, for the third I was thinking about the new 25 mph speed limit as we can write about just about anything, I was thinking about the significance of the yellow cab but that's over done.

Thank you

You could write about THE TAXI OF THE FUTURE.

I think there is a lot of meat to write about with the 25 mph speed limit and how it is nothing but a PR stunt. As a NYC car driver, motorcycle rider, cyclist, and pedestrian, I think the following would have made more of a real world impact yet would have required more effort than some PR appearances:

- actual road surface markings (I'm convinced at least 80% of NYC streets do not have surface markings of any kind beyond crosswalks)

- stricter rules and enforcement for taxi curb side pickups or even designated unoccupied taxi lanes (how about not blindly cutting across 4 lanes of traffic to pick up a fare?)

- narrower lanes (actually proven to increase driver awareness and reduce speed)

- better road surfaces

- not allowing buses to have right of way to continue through recently red lights

- better enforcement of bus lanes so they too do not have to blindly cross 2-3 lanes of traffic to get around obstructions

And just an FYI, write not right

Yeah I put the vision zero thing as a possible subject. It's been a long day of homework...
