When an idea so amazingly bad hit me. So absolutely terrible that I must now share it with you.

Take one Cosworth DFV

Place it into one of these behind the front seats.

Bolt it up to this:

Fabricate an IRS with pushrod suspension to accommodate it with a wider than stock Pinto track width. Bolt in a tubular control arm coil-over kit for the front. Eliminate the bumpers all the way around in favor of front and rear diffusers. Exaggerate the factory fender flares to cover up the wide trans-am style minilights that will go on it. Make flat floors for the underside of the whole car to make the diffusers work. Put in a canted high flow, large capacity aluminum radiator in the front with McLaren/GT40 style nostril vents in the hood with duct work to allow the radiator to exhaust and provide more down force. Replace the vent windows with ducted lexan units to provide air to the DFV. Remove the factory gas tank and replace it with a saddle shaped fuel cell to clear the transaxle. Put a flip up style gas cap in the factory location to feed the tank. Paint it flat black with gloss black fat racing stripes going down the middle. Make these sport mirrors out of brushed aluminum.

In the interior, make a full cage with an incorporated firewall to separate the driver and passenger from the motor. The seats will be Recaro's from a newer Mustang but reskinned in black perforated leather with red perforated suede inserts. The doors will be covered in the same materials. A new dash and center console will be fabricated out of brushed aluminum with the edges padded with the same leather as the seats. Black wool carpeting. Top it all off with a vintage Momo three spoke steering wheel covered in black suede with a red center stripe.
