I was talking about lottery winning (scratchcards, I won a £10) expenditure with a few of my non-car people friends and they were asking me what car I would buy if I won £50,000.
Now being a car person I went mental and started listing off things like E39 M5, B7 RS4, S2K, MK5 GTI, Range Rover etc but them being more grounded and practical noted that I neither have the space to store all of those cars nor will I have the cash to keep them all running and it got me thinking. In reality if I were to suddenly win £50,000 would I go crazy and buy a bunch of cars or would I buy one. Turns out I would buy just one.
Specifically the Nissan GTR. I do like the GTR a lot and thanks to the badge it remains stealthy along UK roads which is appealing to me. You can pick them up for around £30,000 which gives me £20,000 left to get a 1000 HP out of it, buy some cameras, sign up to Uber and start a YouTube channel scaring my passengers with the launch control. Hopefully I get a bunch of likes and subs which should bring in that YouTube money to pay for future costs (clutches).
Anyway back to my point. If you did get enough money for say a top spec saloon car would you. Buy a bunch of cars? Buy an expensive used car? or buy a new car?

I was looking for that option too but it isn't really a thing in the UK annoyingly. The best you can do is buy a third party warranty but they just assume the vehicle is junk and charge ridiculous prices.

I would fully kit out the cruiser, and then buy something like an MR2/Miata as my daily. Then put the rest into the house. (specifically raising the height of the garage to fit the cruiser and building a covered space for the daily...or vice versa. They let me wife go nuts with the rest, which should do wonders towards her feelings of me buying a 3rd car.

If you won £50k on the lottery, would you really spend every penny on a car?

Near-as-new Boxster with the patented DeMuro CarMax warranty. Or a Volvo Polestar if I could find one.

If I won 80K USD, I don't think I'd go batshit buying cars, to be honest.
Most likely, I'd buy a nice new/gently used WRX. If not that, then a used M3 or C63 AMG. I'd then throw the rest of the money into my 401K.

Pretty much yeah. My home is fine and needs nothing done to it. I hate travelling so holidays are a no go. I have no debt to anyone. If I were suddenly to come into that kind of money I would either put it an account and wait for the tiny interest or put it towards something I'm interested in. That interest is cars.

Get this installed on my 4Runner http://www.chaosfab.com/86-95-4WD-Pick… , then swap the 3.slow for a supercharged 3.4 5VZE, toss the auto and swap to a manual...basically just rebuild the damn thing. Then I would get a decent FJ60 to DD, and spend the rest on a couple months worth of gas.

Well, if I won just £50k I wouldn't blow it all on fun stuff, but that aside, is there really nothing else at all you'd like to buy? No girlfriend or family to get a few presents for or anything? :)

The way I looked at it was that I'm in a comfortable financial position at the moment so that £50K would be completely open to be blown on fun stuff if I wished without any regrets.

I'd probably end up on an ebay spree buying weird obscure cars. A Saab 96 and an early 1950's Parkard are likely. An AMC, Renault, or Alfa Romeo 164 Q are also likely. (Cars whose company no longer exists or no longer sells cars in the U.S.)

I wouldn't blow 50k of winnings. It would get invested.
But if I did ...it would probably be on an E90 M3 or 997.2 C2.
