Tucson sunsets... It's a hell of a perk. That was taken when I was leaving work a week or two ago. Wish I had my real camera with me.

Nah, it does kind of look like it though. Further east out near Pantano and 22nd.

Damn, not even close. I miss the AZ sunsets, nothing as colorful over here in KS.

I grew up the 80's, radder is definitely a word. spell check and dictionaries be damned.

But you get, uh... well, you get tornados and the simply stunning cloud masses that come with them.

When I lived in IL the thing I missed the most was mountains, or something other than man made objects to orient myself when I couldn't see the lake. I've got a great internal sense of direction, but I was constantly doubting myself. I grew up here and a quick glance in any direction told me exactly where I was just by the distance from the mountains in all directions.

Oh yeah... tornados... thanks... :(

Ah I just remembered that this weekend when I traveled through KS and it's flat land. It also makes driving more exhausting when there's no changes, just straight, flat, roads. Not even in particularly good condition. How long have you been in AZ?

Born and raised (second generation), escaped for nearly 5 years and then came back... all told approximately 35 years living here.

ETA: I used to travel back and forth from Chicago to Tucson a few times a year by car. There's an awful lot of flat on that drive.

Seems like Arizona tends to be a black whole. But by no means do I plan to move back, but then again you can't plan all of your life. I only spent 8 years there and have been gone for a year or so.

That drive sounds horrid, I drove from Tuc-town to Vegas often, and once from Vegas here to KC. But I am planning on doing a drive from KC to LA, so I'm not really sure if I even want to go on such a trip. Did you use to stop at hotels or just kept going and slept if needed?

Arizona definitely sucks people back in. It's been a running joke as long as I can remember.

It depended on the time of year and how much time off was allowed, but we'd always stay at least in one hotel (go as far as you can, then sleep, then try to make it the rest of the way).

The drive from here to Vegas, with the exception of having to go through Phoenix, is a beautiful drive... and of course, Vegas is always fun... the drive back? well...

I took a pano of my desk and it was both depressing and containing stuff I shouldn't share on the Internet. I'm in a office with no windows...

no windows? Isn't that a fire hazard?

I don't think so... We just had our fire marshal inspection and I think all's well. None of the windows in our office open anyway though.

Edit: unless you mean "fire hazard" as the lack of windows as a means of reducing morale. Then maybe.
