A Mustang crashed & wedged itself on bike path of Golden Gate Bridge. That's my theory.

He saw a fiat driving down the bike path to avoid traffic and then thought he could fit too?

The driver saw it posted as "Bikes Only" and figured it was the HOV lane.

An intoxicated driver fed up with traffic did what we all dream about doing. The mystical sidewalk, a traffic free haven.

Don't know how it happened, but I know how to unf*ck the situation:

I don't know what there is to think about when it comes to removing it. Clearly you throw a chain through both windows and reef that thing out with a crane. Screw trying to not damage the car any more, this idiot deserves whatever damage happens to the car when they try to remove it.

They came to a rest here.
Unless they jumped a section of this base divider, I have no idea how they got in there.
I can't see anywhere else a Mustang would have gotten into that large, open area.
I thought for a second she had gotten on the bike path, thinking it was access to the bridge, and just motored along, waiting for a merge lane.....but the path (if wide enough) is blocked off by posts and a fence according to this.

I got a mustang airborne a ridiculous amount and ended up on a boulder as a kid. Balanced. Perfectly. On top of a boulder. So I have a rough idea of how to do that. :(
No. I don't have pictures. It was over 20 years ago.

In that overhead pic, she clearly took the 101 to the 1.

I don't see how.
There are posts and fences that keep vehicles off of that south-bound bike path. Maybe they were open for some sort of maintenance vehicles last night?

The California Highway Patrol arrested a driver on suspicion of driving under the influence Tuesday morning after a blue Mustang drove up on the Golden Gate Bridge, wedging itself on the narrow pedestrian walkway.
Officers arrested 22-year-old Daniel Soto of San Francisco about 5:15 a.m., shortly after the car drove up onto the portion of the bridge normally reserved for walkers and cyclists. Golden Gate Bridge spokeswoman Priya David Clemens took a photo of the unusual sight, showing how tightly the car was wedged in between a chain link fence and the rail of the bridge. She added that this has never happened before.
Another article suggests he drove onto the wide section. Not sure if they meant drive onto the wide section from the bridge, or from the narrow section north of it.

Daniel Soto was driving south when he drove onto the wide area of the sidewalk near the North Anchorage at 5:13 a.m., CHP Officer Andrew Barclay said.

There is video here. Access to the bike path entrance must have been open.

I was just joking, because clearly cars would have access to the 101 and the 1.
But thanks sincerely for putting the time and effort into a serious reply.

I don't know what the chances were that alcohol wasn't involved, but they were certainly pretty slim.
