I have a dream car I want, but i have no idea how to do this. note: i cannot afford this unless I win the lottery.
So my car... I want to make a custom 1967 Chevy Impala Coupe, like this. one
Now, this one's stock. Take this car, and put a box flare over both the front and rear wheels. Then, drop it a bit more. The car would have 4-corner hydro-pneumatic suspension, with the ability to adjust the pressure from the cabin. This would make it an amazing handling car. The wheels would be 19/275's in the front, and 20/335's in the rear. behind those wheels? 15.1" 6-piston brembos up front, 14" 6-piston brembos out back.
Under the hood would be a special engine as well. An over-bored 454. Bored out to 478 cubic inches. It'd also be fuel injected, and have an Overhead-Cam conversion. 5 valves per cylinder as well, so that the gas can really get in there. to make sure there's enough air, a roots style blower will sit atop the block. Backing this transmission up would be a really heavy-duty version of the C7's 7-speed manual.
Inside the car, a red leather interior with aluminum accenting is what I'd want. Remove the front bench, put 2 BMW M5-esque seats up there, and craft a custom center console and dash for the car. That way, the car would have modern usability, and old school style.
Last detail is the outside. Paint it billet silver, with the roof and pillars in dark grey. on the very back of the rear quarters, do a stylized 478 in red, with red pin striping around it.
Gah.. i want this so bad...

5v overhead cam conversion for a 454? That's some pretty fantastical stuff.

Talk about overkill. not sure if it needs all that.

Minus the DOHC 5v conversion, the rest is actually pretty doable. I'd guess you'd spend less than $250,000 on the whole thing, especially if you go with air suspension instead of hydro-pneumatic.

Still though, it's a lot being spent, for something that could be done fine with less.

No need for box flares on a car this big. Some simple wheel tubs would allow those meats to fit inside that gorgeous body.
I love crazy ideas like this. I have several examples of insanity floating around my head. I should post about them.

Wrong year but this could be a good starting platform. http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/4778609301…

Big block heads usually flow pretty well as-is

I think he wants the higher RPM potential from fewer heavy components between the valves and the cams, plus lighter individual valves, not better airflow.
I'm not sure how well such a complex valvetrain (seriously, do they even make 5v heads outside of that one maserati, or would it be all custom?) would deal with a high-psi supercharger.

Depends on how high you want to go, I guess. 7000-8000 isn't a problem with off the shelf parts as-is.

The only reason to go to those extremes is shooting for 9000-10000, which the 454's dimensions and pistons aren't going to be able to sustain anyway, even with a 4-bolt bearing crank and some hardcore nascar-level connecting rods. But I can see the desire to have such a crazy valvetrain.
Me? I'd go for something smaller but with 6-bolt main bearings and a short stroke, namely an LS2 with an aftermarket short crank or something of that nature. Off the shelf parts and excellent internals make a 9000RPM LS motor possible, but it's a bit extreme.
Or just start with a motor that already turns 8000rpm and put race-quality parts on it. If you get ahold of DOHC Nissan L engine heads, you can have a 3.0l straight six that pulls 11000rpm. Then there's the Hartley V8, RB26DETT, Chevy 302 or 4-bolt Ford 302/289 solid cam blocks, lots of ways to reach that kind of RPM. Just not with a 454.

I was thinking you might be able to get that high if you get a hold of some Pro Stock parts but then you'd probably have to tear the engine down every season to keep it fresh. Aluminum rods and such.
I also see no reason to stay with the 4" stroke since the crank would have to go anyway. You might be able to get some more RPM if you step down to the 3.76 crank but then you are giving up cubes, then it's an aftermarket block and "bore city" or whatever.

this is all the dream... I want to do this one day, when I'm rich :P
And yeah, it'd be a tough thing to pull off, but it'd be unique! and I'm not aiming for something that revs over 8K in this type of setup, I just thought it'd be neat to have!

To be honest, a jet engine would be more realistic than a 5v DOHC (or TOHC?) setup.
