I'm selling mine. I'll give a massive discount if any of y'all are interested. With a bit of work it could make a decent 24 hours of Lemons car. I'd let it go for $500 to Oppo members.

91 civic 5 spd base model. replace the headgasket, belts, etc. When reassembled it started to smoke even though the head was overhauled. The rings are stuck I think.

There is a lot of irony here. Both of us got our Volvos the same week and now we both are trying to sell and get rid of them!

I'll be honest, I kinda got the idea of selling from you. My mom took my 850 off the insurance last week and surrendered the tags to the DMV, so there is no point keeping it in the garage dripping oil on the ground. These are quite touchy cars and they do not seem to be the best for unskilled repairman such as ourselves.

Im still paying insurance and still have it registered. Mom and dad now just laugh at my car. They drove it for the first time yesterday and laughed at its quirks. the cd player keeps saying "no disc" but there isn't even a CD player in the car since it was stolen.... And it shudders now for some reason.

These cars are a bad way to learn mechanics. We need to have a party when we both get them sold!

Maybe my R interior and rims and engine would be happy inside your 850? Let's bundle them together for $3250 and split the profit!

I think I'm gonna need a lot more than the interior and rims to sell mine for $3250. I already got my first offer from a guy named Jimmy for $300. I think I'm going to wait it out and try and get $5-700 on craigslist, or $500 from anyone on Oppo who wants it.

My mom drove mine once to firestone to get an oil change. I think she was quite happy to come home to her 2013 XC60.

I've always liked volvos. Last February, when my mom was getting an oil change and some maintenance for a few days , they gave her a 1999 Volvo s70 as a loaner car. The thing reeked of cigarettes, and she has a lung condition. so I gave her my car to drive. I ended up really liking the driving dynamics of the old sweede, and was rather sad when we had to return it. A few months later, I heard my moms elderly friend, Grace talking about how much she hated her car, and how she was going get her sons 2006 Mercedes-Benz C240 once he got a new car. I offered her a few hundred bucks, and she told me, "You can't buy Shit." And so, thats how I ended up with my Volvo. Attached is the pic of the loaner car which sparked my interest in the old S70/v70/850

Is that the same one you bought a couple months ago at around the same time I bought my '94 T-5?

Mine is currently sitting outside with a blown head gasket, so consider yourself lucky for just a failed odometer (happens to 99% of these cars) and brake issues! (other than struggling a lot to catch and drinking water and oil faster than fuel it drives perfectly though, oddly!)

Terrible times to own a P80 Volvo on Oppo, it seems.

As someone already suggested, try advertising it on a Volvo enthusiast's forum. Hopefully someone will pick it up and give it a new lease in life.

I'm looking to get mine fixed around january, once I have time off work (and money). Given that it runs fine, I'm guessing the head is only slightly warped, so maybe throw in a new gasket set and a give it a little time at a machine shop and it should be good to go. If a friend would let me borrow his garage for a few days to do the work, I could use what I save on labour to throw in some piston rings, PCV kit, valve stem seals, etc. and have a basically brand-new engine which could last me another 100.000 miles. Let's see.

Here hoping you and JQJ213 can at least recoup part of your investment and your Volvos can go on to live a happy life in more mechanically-capable hands!
