Wrong spark plugs? I thought it'd be the carbs. Apparently, they were known for spitting petrol out onto the hot engine.,

Tried that one on too, if you read further down in the article:
"Mr Scarrott also puts forward an alternative case that the fire was caused by the engine's timing being out and its carburettor not being properly adjusted." (Scarrott being the solicitor for Hunt.)
BmanUltima's car still hasn't been fixed yet, he'll get on it tomorrow, honest.

That's just showing it's authenticity of an Italian supercar. No potential self-immolation means it's not good enough.

That's right. It's not terribly surprising to find out the kid blew up a classic Lambo, is it?

It is terribly surprising to find out that he might not have anything to do with causing the car to blow up. I would sooner have expected that guy to blow up a Lambo by hitting a sheep while doing donuts on his croquet pitch...

seems this happened just a few miles from the garage, with rough running up until the point where it caught fire. i do think the garage may have some responsibility here, not sure exactly what it may be though.
regardless of the approach for remedy and the nature of the owner, and the well known activities of his son, its unfortunate to see this car up in flames. they're truly amazing in person, and i'm not sure a car with such a presence will be ever produced again.

Well, quite. That article only reports what his bastard of a dad has instructed the solicitor to try on with the court, not what actually happened. I imagine the defence will present the TTR videos as evidence that the kid makes a big thing out of his habit of abusing classic cars.

It's of course possible, but unlikely, that there is something behind it. More likely, the kid just has no idea how to baby a classic Italian supercar.
The car will be restored, so that's no big deal.

if it is the same guy... he should have some experience with italian supercars. baby-ing? not sure.
and i will grant that the miura is probably among the most delicate of these beasts. had one experience with a miura. a friend spent about a year trying to restore an early miura for show in the concorso italiano in monterrey/pebble beach. it wouldn't start after being driven onto the dais. had to be pushed off.
thankfully yes, it will be restored. it should be. if not for the investment, for the beauty.

Yes, that's the guy. There's a whole youtube channel dedicated to showing him demonstrating how not to treat classic supercars...
I don't know if the Miura - hah, almost typed Miata... - is more delicate than some others. It's definitely delicate, but so are most other Italian supercars of the era. Boras were notorious for catching fire, for example.
