Toyota is running this ad here in French Canadia
"How to describe the contrary of beige"
Funny, somehow, they must have heard about that beige bites back thing, good job Ray Wert.

It's clearly blue.

The background is beige, though.

Sometimes I don't understand Toyota. They build cars that excel in ways that appeal to lots of people (like durability), but are somewhat sub par in others that many consumers don't care about (like driving dynamics). Why not focus on the things you're good at and have an ad based on truth, rather than some marketing bullshit about one of the few things your cars actually suck at.

Well, I guess the goal is to attract people that would not consider a Corolla.

C'est pas mal, un peu trop de chrome sur la calandre selon moi.

High school level French at it's finest!
"... système audio à écran de 6,1 po que vous pouvez toucher ..."
A screen that I CAN ACTUALLY PHYSICALLY TOUCH!?!? Holy Jesus on a Bicycle, now I need a Corolla.
Yes, I understand that they were trying for symmetry with the next part of the phrase, "une excellente maniabilité que vous pouvez sentir", but it just sounds silly.

Back to the international language !

Quebec is the sales leader for base model sub-compacts and compacts.
The take rates of manual with out air-conditioning is higher here in quebec than anywhere else in north america. Might be because of our high taxes, and high gas prices.
Here in abitibi our gas prices are the highest in quebec. right now at 1.29$ when the rest of the province is at about 1.14.

That's true, I think the Civic has been the biggest seller for like 25 years. But you can't deny that there's more people opting for the manual (by choice) than elsewhere.
Is there snow yet up there in Abitibi ?

At least they acknowledge that they are beige. Let the healing begin.

Because French. Interestingly the proportion of BVA in France has now reached 14% which is a record. It's been very lowly advancing, apparently only in Paris because they're almost unknown elsewhere.

Because cars are sold on emotion. And nobody wants to drive a beigemobile. It's why crossovers and SUVs sell way better than minivans and wagons.
Right now, toyota hasn't quite sunk to the level of the minivan in terms of mainstream perception. They still tend to be seen as the economical choice for smart young people. Not flashy, but not so terrible that you'd pay any premium not to be seen in one. But that can change and if it does, it'll kill their market.
So every so often they have to do something to cover up the truth before it spreads too widely.
