To have two mufflers welded in and tubing added?
Or is it cheaper to just buy direct fit shit and cut/weld the performance mufflers in? This route would cost about $300 total.

It really depends, if you know a guy welding would be cheaper but if you don't you might as well just go for the latter as its probably a better solution and wouldn't cost too much more

If your question is whether or not it would be cheaper to go with a custom exhaust vs a direct fit with custom mufflers I'm going to just say go with option 2. Makes the job a lot easier and I believe cheaper as well.
