Newcastle Scotch Ale
Verdict:
Not that great, I'd rather have a Newcastle Brown Ale, no bollocks.

All of Newcastle's new stuff is weak. They spoiled us with the near-perfect Brown Ale the first time; it's just too hard to beat.

Seeing this has made me smile, something from my neck of the woods! I think I'm the only Opponaut from Newcastle..?

You're absolutely correct. Newcastle Brown is my beer of choice and the variations just don't compare.

Ive recently tried something new, Nitro Milk Stout if you like your hard beer this one is for you think Guinness but better..

Is Newcastle Brown Ale everywhere and cheap up there?
![]() 11/26/2014 at 15:09 |

I'll have to look around and see if I can find it!

I hope you can, once you do let me know what you think?

Oh FFFF Left Hand Nitro Milk. Best Stout in the wuuuurld
![]() 11/26/2014 at 15:16 |
|
It's a Left Hand brew (local to me). Keep an eye out for it for sure; it's definitely the best stout!
Keep in mind they have Milk Stout and Nitro Milk Stout - two different brews

It's in most bars, but not particularly cheap. I guess business is business! Strangely the only place I've ever had it on draught was in Milan :/

The Black Cab and Werewolf aren't bad

Hey, I was wondering the same! Gateshead reporting in. However I moved here from Germany 2 years ago, so no native.
![]() 11/26/2014 at 16:42 |

It seems like it gets really cheap sometimes and I don't know the reason why

Now i know what am going to have this evening.. Cheers..

Werewolf was decent. Better than their Christmas brew, or was it the Christmas brew I liked better? Now I forget. Haven't had Black Cab though.

Try the Black Cab if you get a chance! It's really good!!

I'll see if I can find a pack

Whereabouts in Germany are you from? Do you want to setup the smallest ever Oppo meet?!

I'm from near Dresden. And why the hell not? My (very jalopy even without posting on jalopnik) gear head friend is about to move back to the south so I would appreciate meeting more people in the area with the same interests.

Ah I know Germany pretty well but only have experience of the Western cities. You'll have to put up with LandRover chatter if that's ok. What do you drive?

I'm currently driving a lhd E39 528i manual. I'm also planning to finally get my '95 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC on the road which I'd like to report about on here once I can post my own topics. Its quite an interesting story.

Sweet! Well if you need any help with it I'd be happy to lend a hand. Got a thing for American busses. What state is it in now?

Hahaha yeah, there is more than enough work left. It's currently getting a new stainless exhaust since the old one got perforated from collecting water inside after being parked most of the time, I am waiting for the call from the garage to pick it up, should be done by tomorrow. Next big job will be replacing the ABS pump which needs to happen asap, I'd like to do it myself to save a few hundred bucks and I already got instructions and all the parts needed, but I don't trust myself working on such essential safety systems alone even tho it should be fairly straight forward, so I will probably have to bite the bullet and pay a garage to do it, and its not gonna be cheap. Apart from that lots of cosmetic stuff, probably needs a new heater core under the dash, its bypassed right now so I don't have any heat inside, and its lash adjuster will need replacing at one point if nothing else is wrong with the engine.

Nah man, we'll take a look at it first! What's the worst that can happen? Anyway, you're a German. By default you are a model of engineering and mechanical efficiency. And I'm British, so I'll make us cups of tea. Nothing can stop us with such a combination.

Haha yeah, that would be great! Whats your fb? Might be easier to talk there.

Believe it or not I don't use it, email me alex@sharklasers.com (disposable email) and I'll send you one through my gmail

You should have an email from me now.

Sorted it. I've emailed back.

False. Good, great even, but not the best. Founders Breakfast Stout (and variations that I have yet to try) is the best*.
*If you would like to help me qualify that, please send me beer.

maybe we can work out an arrangement as I cannot get Founders out here...

Shoot. Where is out here? Looks like they cover the eastern half of the country pretty well.

Oh gosh. Does Goose Island distribute there? I've heard great things about their Bourbon County Brand Stout. It may be an equal to the glory of Founders. Otherwise, we might be able to work out a trade.

I'll check to see if Goose Island is out here - doubtful though, it doesn't sound familiar and I tend to keep up with the beer scene here
