Tom McParland, if that is his real name, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! they shouldn't spend their most quintessential of holidays, Black Friday, at a dealership. Tom McParland is wrong. American auto buyers should go to a dealership, specifically a Buick dealership, because when and where else can you find !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! a brand new car?

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Modern car enthusiasts, especially modern American car enthusiasts, are all about numbers. Sub-three-second 0-60 times, 707 horsepower engines, under 2500 lbs curb weights; but none of these numbers is as bonkers as 20% off a car that's not a Mitsubishi, Suzuki, or other dead-brand-walking.

Just consider the following:

Kinja'd!!!

Sweet George Washington on a cracker almost $6000 off a brand new Buick Regal! It's the base Regal, but who cares? A base Regal will easily top a Malibu with a few options, even on Black Friday. Let's walk to the other side of the dealership and see what deals Americans can find on !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! this weekend.

Kinja'd!!!

$1000 off. A paltry $1000 off. Only offering $1000 off, less than 5% of the base Malibu's $23,290 MSRP, is an insult to the holiday. A mere $1462 will bump you not just to a new trim level, but to an entirely more upmarket brand!

So if you're looking for a great somewhat-German FWD/AWD cruiser, walk on over to a Buick Dealer and see what's on the lot. You may just find something you like for 20% off. Because 20% off.

Well, shit. I didn't realize Burorcks were this affordable even before 20% off. Anybody buying any other GM products that aren't a niche offering like the Vette: YOU ARE WRONG

Either way you would be buying a Buick, so I'm going to say staying home is the best idea.

I bought my car brand new and got just over 20% off MSRP and I didn't buy it on Black Friday. Or any other special shopping day. I just negotiated.

Just did a live chat with Buick. The car has to be purchased at MSRP so not more room for negotiation. I guess if you were already in the market then this is probably the best deal you can get.

I like how the only good thing they could find to quote on the Malibu was for the stop/start system.

Guy A: So you bought a Malibu? Why?

Guy B: KBB says it has the smoothest-operating start/stop system around. How could I not?

Guy A: Good call. I must now go buy one too because it has the smoothest-operating stop/start system. Thanks KBB.

I said the Chevy *boring* cars. The Corvette is a niche car for which you would buy from Chevy. It does not make the Aveo cool.

You're comparing a 2014 and a 2015. For pretty much any brand the remaining 2014's, if you can find them, are going to have huge savings.

That said that's still a damn good deal on that Buick, though the deal has been valid all week. If someone wants to go buy a car today I can pretty much guarantee any dealership they visit will be a ghost town- GREAT day to buy a car!

"20% off select 2014/2015 Buick sedans in stock the longest "

Great, so the weird configurations which were way over optioned and aren't going to move and you would have gotten that deal anyway with a little negotiating...

Kinja'd!!! RamblinRover Luxury-Yacht > Brian Silvestro
11/26/2014 at 10:36

It's weird - most GM cars I can't stand, but I had a soft spot for Pontiac (until they killed it), a mild interest in Olds, at least older models and what the brand *was* (until they killed it), and I like Buick's in-house school of styling, distinct from the rest of GM, and the higher trim level offered. So much so I'd just about buy a Regal before a Camaro, because for every positive that the Camaro offers it's got two things that piss me right off.

I've been saying for years that GM doesn't really make cars that interest me, regardless what they can *do* on paper, but if I were buying a GM for any sort of practical use, it would be a Buick, all the way.

But it's a Buick!

I don't care about the comparison tests and reviews, they all look like dressed-up Suzuki Kizashis left over in inventory. Which is to say, nice but ill-proportioned sedans.

Wagonize all the Buicks and we'll talk. Wagonizing fixes a lot. It even fixed Banglebutt on the 5 series, which is like Extreme Makeover for cars.

Kinja'd!!! Ash78, voting early and often > For Sweden

Kinja'd!!!1

Counterpoint: Minivans aren't pitched (or bought) as style accessories, therefore aesthetics are beyond judgment.

Most Buicks are tiny, awkward sedans sold by a luxury brand in an attempt to force Americans to pretend we're all 20-something Chinese social climbers and can't remember Buick from 5 years ago.

Brown Buick Regal with salmon interior and yellow Alcantara headliner. It has a Torsen diff and an automatic. Two of the wheels are Buick, one is Chevrolet, and one is a Saturn steelie with a hubcap. It has a turbo exhaust system, but a naturally aspirated intake.
