for 1920x1080 it is irrelevant what you use - DVI, DP, HDMI - all provide same quality.

it's just that DP cables and connectors are the worst of the three :)

DP is the best, i love the simple lock system they use

I have my laptop on a dock running 2 22" HD monitors. One is connected to the DVI port, the other to the DP port. I can't tell a difference between the two.

The only reason you ever have to deal with DisplayPort is because it's cheap to implement for manufacturers. If there was no license fee for HDMI then DisplayPort would be one of those obscure connectors AV nerds had read about but never saw.
