Why are some Honda fanboys so fucking dumb?

Seriously, there's this one idiot who can't accept the fact that Honda isn't what it used to be. Guy comes after me because I had the gall, the nerve, the gumption to say that a Honda wasn't a good car a few years ago.

Fanboys in general are dumb. They aren't open minded and dismiss facts as falsehoods. Don't bother trying to argue.

Did you just extrapolate the behavior of an entire population based on one data point? May want to dial back the rhetoric there. And by "may" I mean, you definitely should. There's no place for this here.

So you encountered an idiot... OK. Yep. Happens to all of us. Let's not dive into attacking entire subsections of car culture.

And for the record... "...to say that Honda wasn't a good car a few years ago." What?

I don't see why people love Honda to begin with. They're cheap cars. Values, to be sure, but still, cheap cars made from cheap materials that have never blown me away.

I'm a self-loathing Honda fanboy. As a VW fanboy, I hate Honda fanboys, but retro Honda scooters are my favorite sort of scooter and I am a total fanboy of them.

I don't know about the fanboys part but on the Honda part you are spot on they have definitely lost their way. the last great honda's weren't honda's at all(in north america at least).

NSX aside.

The Acura TL Type S.

Kinja'd!!!

and the Acura Type R.

Kinja'd!!!

The last great honda in my opinion is the EK Civic Type R.

Kinja'd!!!

I actually used to really like Honda but now not so much same goes for Toyota there was a time where the were awesome now it's nothing but appliances (FR-S aside).

I would love it if Honda went back to their roots and give us the cars that made them awesome in the first place. The biggest missed opportunity is by far the CR-Z. ditch the hybrid and give it a K20 and presto an awesome successor to the CRX. It would of been so easy and such a success but somehow they thought otherwise.

Depends what you call a cheap car. And "cheap materials" wut? They're made of alloy, steel, plastic, rubber and glass like most cars.

Should have said 'a Honda' (think it was the 2012 Civic; it's been a while).

And yeah, I did. I've encountered a bunch of them that put their fingers in there ears and refuse to listen to reason. The one I'm talking about, though...hoo boy, I think he might, uh, have issues. Like, major issues.

I'm sure he does. I've met a lot of them (I'm nearly 40), and there are a lot of people in the Honda scene that make it look bad.

I've never owned a Honda, and have no stake in this game. But I don't like making Oppo a battleground either. Calling an idiot an idiot and then providing proof is one thing. Lumping them all in together though? I'm sure that there are some good ones out there. I know that there are a few here.

I agree completely, but this post was more regarding new Hondas.

I am firmly in the old school Honda camp, I've currently got the following.

1985 Aero 50

1977 Express (work in progress)

Next addition will be a Trail 90.

Nice! I'm jealous. This is my current project (of a couple years now):

Kinja'd!!!

1972 CT70H, three year only model with a slight power bump and a 4 speed manual instead of a 3 speed semi-auto. Its in a few pieces right now, but I'm hoping to get it running soon.

Thanks, they're pretty rare from my understanding. Low production volume, and only for 3 years. I don't think I've ever seen one go for under a grand (although all the other ones I've seen have been much nicer than mine), and I managed to get mine for free :p

Family discount! My Aunt bought it new, and when she was done with it it just hung out in my Grandfather's barn and rotted. Pulled it out a few years ago hoping to get it up and running someday soon. Granted, it may have been free to buy, but I'm going to have a fair bit into it before I'm done, since my end goal is getting it Rego'd for road use.

Ah makes sense. How do the old 4 strokes hold up to long term storage? My 2 strokes are covered in deep rust, but thanks to an always leaky oil injection pump, both engines were filled with oil above and below the piston and thus preserved in a like new state.

Kinja'd!!!

See for yourself! It's basically like new under the cover. The exhaust is rusted through, and various parts are frozen with rust, but nothing major. The electrical system even still works, although I'll probably replace it anyways. At this point, the biggest thing barring me from getting things moving is the clutch, which seems to have frozen into a single mass, so I need to get the tool to remove & replace it. Beyond that, it's looking like basic refreshing to get it up to spec.

Very nice, amazing how these things can last. The aero sat for 7 years and I just cleaned the carb and gave it some fresh gas. Hell the battery even still works.

He also had a couple of Elite 50s that we did just that with, had some fun tooling around the backyard with those. Unfortunately, the CT70's been sitting for closer to 37 years, so I'm not quite that lucky this time around. We did get it bump started a couple times, but it only ran for a brief period before sputtering out. I suspect it's because the rear hub's all but frozen, and was stalling it out just from the added drag. Until I get the clutch unstuck, I can't kick it over to really give it a test, so I can't really be sure yet though.
