Not only will this snow start getting heavy just about the same time I will get out of work, everybody else will be on the damn road too. I have to drive from the 1-3" area up into the 6-9" area along with a gajillion other maniacs. I'll be one of the few with snow tires on. Also, people always drive so much worse in the first snow of the season. Typically it's about a 75-90 minute drive. I'm giving myself 3 hours for this trip.
Yeah, all the news stations and the governor say "Please start your travel early, do your traveling on Tuesday, blah blah blah, yeah some of us have jobs so please stop telling me this. I'm well the fuck aware that I should have taken Wednesday off.
To make the trip brighter, my wife and kids are going up earlier in the day, and I'm bringing my mother in law and her dog (and my dog).
It could be worse... It could have been Buffalo, last week...

Luckily I scored an awesome GF and will be doing thanksgiving at her parents here in town!! woohoo and to top it off the storm is just gonna miss us to the east by a hair! other wise I too would be forced to travel in that junk to go home.
Sorry to brag, I'm just happy... Try not to die!

Thanks, I will definitely try not to die!!! By all means I've driven in worse conditions that what we'll see, but usually not combined with the busiest travel day...

Ok... it's pink, it says 6-9" on it, and it has a very distinct, hanging shape. I can't be the only one seeing this....

An elephant?

Is the mother-in-law comment sarcasm. If so, best of luck my friend. Get her to pass out and let you do your thing. I drove from NYC to my home in MD last year in the middle of the worst snow storm last year. My mother kept insisting that we stop and get a hotel. That wasn't happening. NY, NJ, and PA DO NOT CLEAR THE ROADS. The 4hr trip turned into a 9hr trip and I was forced to go about 30-45 on the highways.

Yikes. Keep warm and safe! I wish we were getting snow here in NM all we have had for the last week was heavy winds.

The only bad part of my Thanksgiving travels is that it we're going to Nebraska

I just had the inflatable rental company cancel on our party tomorrow night. It's supposed to be wet and rainy all day with a chance of snow tomorrow night here in DC. They claim they can't do a moonbounce kind of thing when it's below 40 degrees.
Sucks, man. What am I going to do with these 50 people?

Another one here. I got a 100+ mile trip tomorrow night from the 3-6 band to the 6-8. Should be fun.

ok here's the plan. Everyone knows the highways will be a disaster. Plan out some nice back roads. HOON THAT SHIT. pretend your having a hard time keeping it on the road. Scare the shit out of your mother-in-law. when you arrive safely she'll think your amazing for driving thru the storm, but you were really just having fun

Nope, which I suppose makes Boston the anus. Accurate, I guess.

Yes, sarcasm intended. I'm trying to avoid the whole mess and get her to agree to a nice easy thursday morning drive instead of going up wednesday night. Why make the trip in 3 hours of stress when we can do it in one hour of easy?!R#R@$#
![]() 11/25/2014 at 13:01 |

She enjoys cars and likes my driving, which is good. I just don't see why we _NEED_ to be there wednesday night anymore...

Easy peasy! From what I've seen today it's all supposed to be cleared out late wednesday night. Thursday-T-day drives have always been easier in my experience.

Good luck!!!

yeah, up here it is sticking around till the am, so as long as it clears before the ma border I will be ok!

I'm undecided if I want to take the 12 mpg truck with mud tires, or the car, or convince the wife to wait until Thursday. Not that it's be any better at the time I'd be traveling Thursday, but we'll see. I guess it depends on the snow consistency, I should be able to see how it is on my drive home from work.

I've got a 7 hour drive from Baltimore up to Massachusetts. With the impending storm I really want to leave tonight.
With snow and everyone else, I forsee the trip turning into 10+ easily.

Same. Leaving Long Island real early tomorrow morning but I'm driving through all of PA to Ohio.

Hopefully the southern part is all rain. Yeah, leave early! Take 95 through CT and RI instead of 84 if you can.

Good luck, that's a long trip! I've done Boston to Pittsburgh for many a holiday, some in real nasty weather...

Decided to leave today. Hopefully the traffic this evening isn't that bad!

I'm going out of town, only about half a mile though to my grandparents, then coming back. my family never travels during thanksgiving becuase everyone else is traveling.
This is actually further than normal, travel for me on thanksgiving (or christmas for that matter) usually consists of going from my room to the living room/kitchen.
