How do you know if the city you want to leave is actually better than the place you are planning of moving into. Its a hard decision. Actually, i've delayed the decision a while now.

Have a lotus for your time.

Just one rule: Is it worth to say goodbye to your 'social environment' and start all over again. Because that's what will happen. Maybe not completely but for a very big part anyway.

Well, to be honest, i dont hang out with any friends in here. The big friends i used to hang out with, have spread over different parts of the world over the years. So im not losing anything in that aspect.

Well, then there is no real rational checklist to follow. Just your heart/gutfeeling I suppose. It's nice if the new environment is an improvement for the future you've projected your self in (either personally or professionally) but: When in doubt, run and shout. That's the only advice I can come up with with this little info.

As someone who's lived a few places (moved across country when 18, moved out of country aged 20, then moved back) I suggest, if you're not tied down go for the move. Sometimes we all need a change of scenery. I am trying to plan a move back across the country myself.

change is always good.

a lotus with a ski rack might be better, but still change is good.

This Lotus cracks me up. So Eighties with its skis sticking up in the air. Haven't seen that on a car since Thule and Yakima racks started being installed.

BTW, depends on how attached you are to your current city. I moved from Denver, the city I know better than any other, to Washington, a city of northern asshole charm and southern fuckface efficiency. Thought it would be easy because I grew up there. How sorry I was...

So, be prepared to lose

1) Your haunts
2) Your friends
3) Your routine
4) Your neighborhood
5) Your sense of direction
6) Your comfort in a given situation

and if you don't readily take to redefining these things, and quickly,

then maybe reconsider. Unless of course you're talking about moving within the same general region, then F it, do it.

Of course, you may be looking for adventure, in which case it will be an adventure and everything will be new, and like Ben Folds said reinvent yourself, be who you want to be, they'll never discover your redneck past.
