I will own a C5 Corvette before the 2016 autocross season. Hopefully this time next year I'll buy it, but I may wait until early spring 2016.
This isn't a hope or dream, this is a promise. It will happen. Mark my words

Are you sure that's wise, Mr. Jake?
lol I hope you find a nice one and enjoy it

You read my mind. I have the same plan. Im planning on owning a C5Z within the next couple years. Buy some high dollar rubber and seats in it. And hone my skills as much as I can.

I'm going for base. I prefer the coupe body style and it's more affordable. Itll hold me over until I can afford a C7

That's gotta be a typo on the first one. Sweet Jesus. I can't afford it now, but if it's legit holy shit that's a nice price.
The second one is HNNNG worthy but the price is a smidge too high

Wise? Not particularly, but I'll be able to afford it. I'm young, now's the time to do something like this

The first one is ever so tempting and the second one, well it looks just like the one in your original post. But with polished Z06 rims.

Probably not. I'd like to keep it in a reasonable autox class for one, and I plan on driving it to work most days, so I dont want it TOO loud. It will get s catback or axle back exhaust and possibly long tube headers. The exhaust won't stay stock

I sent the first to Jay, he thinks it's one he saw a few months ago on CL that has had its odometer tampered with. From what he's telling me I think he's spot on, which is a shame.
I'm trying to set an absolute maximum of $15k on the purchase. I don't think that's unreasonable to get one with 70k miles or less, especially if I search nearby major metropolitan areas like Dallas. Houston will also be a search location since my parents live down there, it'd be easy to deal with.

Yeah, Id search Texas, maybe Chicago if you are willing to travel a bit.

I approve of this decision.

Chicago is really far. Houston is reasonable to drive a car back from

But Chicago is a massive city so there will be many choices there, I wouldn't put on the top of your list for your reason, but still something to consider.

And you had to pick the rarest of the C5's? My all time love, Speedway White Z06.
Here's a ridiculously low milage FRC near me

I'm probably not getting a Z06. Too expensive and I prefer the look of the coupe. I just picked this picture because that car looks cool

Yes. I'm pretty sure they're moving the regular C5 into A street with the Z06 for some reason next year too. So get a Z06. Yeah, that's a good excuse.
Besides, it seems there's more C5 Z06s for sale than regular C5s anyway.

Very nice. I prefer the FRC look myself. I really want to get a C6Z, but having just bought a house. My funds are a bit drained. I figure with a Z06, it would just take some tires, good set of pads and fluid to be really competitve.

I was originally planning on getting a house first, but after some thought and consulting with my parents I've decided to wait so I'm more flexible in a few years.
You're right that a C5Z will be competitive with tires and brakes. They are crazy fast. If one showed up for the right price I doubt I'd pass it up
![]() 11/25/2014 at 08:36 |

They cost too much. We'll see, if the right one comes along Id go for it
![]() 11/25/2014 at 08:38 |

If you get a Z06 then you can just go to nationals, and actually be competitive. Can't do that in a regular C5.

Again, too much money. This won't be my last corvette, I can always get one later
![]() 11/25/2014 at 08:53 |

But once you say "I'm ready for another car" it's gonna be a C7.

Your point?

Buy a Z06, it'll be more fun

Give me 5 grand
![]() 11/25/2014 at 09:37 |

Just into a little bit of debt. Or sell your Damn planes.
![]() 11/25/2014 at 09:39 |

Maybe. My planes aren't worth that much, and I will probably sell a few anyways
![]() 11/25/2014 at 09:41 |

Cars are cooler anyways

I think I'll be getting a C6 after I acquire a nice garage to store it in. I grew up loving the C5 but the C5Z's are nearly the same price as the LS2 C6's and more plentiful as well.

I have a single car garage at my apartment. My Sonic can live outside for my Corvette to have a home. I also may look for a place to rent with a 2 car garage
