Kinja'd!!!

This weekend I helped my mom get started on packing up my grandma's condo—grandma's moved to assisted living—and stumbled upon this stash of booze in a cabinet. Some of it is just old, but a few of the bottles could be worth a good bit of money. Now we've gotta get it appraised and see who gets what.

The first bottle I found was this bottle of Old Forester bourbon that was bottled in 1970.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I'm no expert on old booze values, but some quick google-fu led me to a site that sells collectible booze, and this bottle might be worth in the range of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! to !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Maybe more because it's the centennial edition? I dunno.

The other two valuable ones that I didn't look at in as much detail are the Hiram Walker's DeLuxe 8 Year Old Bourbon maybe in the range of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! to !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , and the Ballantine's Finest Scotch could also be !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

The couple Jim Beam collector editions are also probably pretty valuable but I need to get more info on them. The thing with the ducks on it is either from 1957, or a reproduction from the 80s. The other box in the back row is some kind of other collector gift deal but I didn't get a good look at it. We shall see.

There's also several old bottles of Seagram's VO Canadian Whisky which I guess isn't that special even though they're old, and some random cognac and stuff. The purple pouch is some other Canadian whisky that I can't remember the name of.

EDIT: Looks like that Seagram's VO from 1973 could be !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Which surprises me but hey whatever.

At first my mom told me to take my pick of a couple bottles since I was the first grandkid to help out with the condo, and I found the stuff. But once I started finding out that some of it was worth a bunch of money, I told her we should figure out a better idea of what it's worth before just giving it away to me and the other grandkids.

I'm so honorable.

Pretty sure I want dibs on the Old Forester though.

How do you plan on not drinking said booze before the appraiser gets the job done and someone buys it from you?

watch out for that courvosier. I fell into a similar situation and my grandparents let me raid the old liquor cabinet. That bottle had a cork that shrank and it leaked all over my Audi. No officer that wasn't me drinking

Also drank all the rest. fuck it

Huh? We're not selling it. My mom, uncle and aunt are in a joint trust in charge of my grandma (she has dementia and no longer is in charge of herself) so once I discovered the stuff is valuable, they have to be made aware of any valuable possessions.

NO! I want the Old Forester!

Seriously, I want that bottle.

That distillery is about 25 minutes from my house.

If you guys do try to sell it, search forums for some collectible for sale sections. You might be able to do an auction, but there arent any that are in the USA until next year.

Yeah, I found the Drinks Planet Wine & Other Vintage Alcohol Values forum, that's kinda why I initially decided it'd be best for me to not just grab a couple bottles.

My dad's still got tons of '70s liquor bottles. He drinks like 3 beers a year, if that, so it all just sits. That said, I don't think any of them are full and sealed anymore, because the rest of the family drinks and started raiding his stash a decade ago.

On a related note, I recently cleaned my apartment and found a liquor cabinet I had forgotten about. Apparently, I had put some extra bottles of rum, Scotch, and Pimm's in an empty cabinet like a year ago and forgot about them and bought more in the meantime. Not old or valuable, but still, surprise booze!
