A co-worker suggested I go into hock and purchase an M3 CSL while I'm in Europe. After all, only 1400 were made, it's an EU-only model, it's rare, and should only go up in value. There was also one for sale for a mere €25,000.

Then I remember seeing poster at work. A co-worker was selling a BMW 320si. Yes, a 320si. A 1 of 2600 homologation for the WTCC. Another EU-only model. It looked like an average, four-door E90 3-series. Tonight I finally get off my duff and start RTFM. These are really rare birds. They have hand-crafted engines, no valvetronic, have beefed up handling, and don't guzzle gas. I think they're an excellent value, as at the low end you can find them for €8,000 and €15,000 at the high end.

Here's an example.

And here's a CSL for comparison:

Indeed, I never knew such cars as the 320is existed. So, my .02 says if you're buying a vehicle to be your only car, go with the 320. It's neat, has a cool background, and it much more practical. However, if this will be a second car or just a toy, CSL all the way. Those things are beasts and they sound glorious.
