So, I want clear corner lights for my Escort, but it's hard to tell if I really like them as much as I think I do. If that makes sense. Here's a picture of one similar to mine with these installed:
Of course, there's also the option of pulling some from a Mercury Tracer, which are clear everywhere except for the corner reflectors. So here's a Tracer, because I can only find one picture of an Escort sporting these and it's super tiny:
And, of course, there's the option of just keeping them stock, like so:
So, which ones look best? Keep in mind I can get either the clear ones or the Tracer ones for under $25 total, and in the case of the clear ones, that's brand new. So it's not really a matter of "is it worth it?" so much as "does this really look good or is that just the excitement of changing something?"

As someone who's owned 3 Escorts, sell the bastard and get something less miserable to own.
That being said, go with the Tracer ones. The aftermarket clear corners are made of low-quality plastic and will yellow on you. Plus, the Tracer ones are DOT legal and the cops can't give you shit for them.

Fair point. I'll pick some up eventually, but Tracers seem to be uncommon in pull yards.
As for selling it, not until it starts giving me trouble. I'm only the second owner, and it's been properly maintained for its whole life. The transmission has been kind of rough between second and third the past couple of days, but I think I just need to add or replace some fluids. Other than that, though, it's too perfect not to keep.

I've always thought the aftermarket lights of any kind are pretty cheesy. Not many exceptions.

Nice to see an Escort owner around here, that was my first car! My current car is a bit nicer, but I certainly miss the 'Scort's character. And automatic seat belts (no joke I loved those things).
For what it's worth I say keep it stock, but if you're itching to change them go for the Topaz lights.

Don't listen to him. The Mazda Escort GT was fantastic and completely underrated by literally everyone. I bought a 1991 GT from a junk yard for $350, changed the tires, brakes, tie-rods and serp belt and took it autocrossing for 2 years. Best money I ever spent.
Attached is a pic of my Racescort GT with my buddy's Rallyscort at an autocross in Kansas like 6 years ago. Paul raced his car pretty consistently in Rally America (and even co-drove for Bill Caswell once). These cars are great. Rock yours until the cows come home.

Go with stock. Also, see if you can track down one of those asymmetrical GT grilles. Those things are awesome.

It worked on my Camry.

So far, that's all I've done to it. ;D

NICE. I almost bought an 88 Festiva this summer (and I would have if that lousy seller would have called me back), and I wanted to swap in an EGT grille. BORN IN THE '80s!

Hell yeah! I wish I had the skills to design a T-shirt with the grille where the holes are made to say "ESCORTGT" since there are the right number of them.
