Seen today: a splendid chap in a BRG Morgan just like this. Top down, tonneau cover attached and woolly cap in place. It was about 10 deg (C) at the time. One can only admire him.

You ever owned a soft top? the joy isn't hot sunny days but cold Autumn/winter days!

This! All of this! I have a '54 MG and it's too damn hot in august. Fall driving is the best driving!

As a young fellow, I can't afford classic sportscars but my '98 MX-5 has a glorious heater so I can forgo the hat.

I have, truth to tell, never even sat in a convertible. Don't even know anyone with one!

Sounds like any classic car owner. The cars are great in the summer but take on a new and different life in the winter. The only real downside and it's quite a big one is when something needs tightened of repaired at the side of the road it, you get very cold and wet fast and other drivers don't drive to the reduced road conditions and you can sometimes be taking your life into your own hands. So double checking things over, keeping the odd spare readily available should you believe you may need it and some foul weather equipment and clothing is a must. But don't let it dampen your spirits and get out there like many have before and enjoy the car.

traditional soft tops = complete misery with roof up, noisy and cold (until car warms up) roof down on the other hand on a crispy winters morning, hear all the engine, hear all the noises, smells and that fresh air. at least in something sporty that is.
you need to get into an mx-5 or similar.
