It may only be Monday but for those lucky enough to live in the USA Turkey Day is this Thursday so we will have an easy week. Sorry the rest of the world, occasionally it does pay to be an American. God Bless soon to be dead turkeys

Retail stores are really pissing me off this year with opening at 4pm on Thursday. Like the greedy CEOs need to chill the fuck out I haven't even gotten seconds at 4pm

let me introduce to you the British holiday of Guy Fawkes Night.
Every 5th of November and for some weeks before and after everyone across the land sets off a fireworks display to one up their neighbors making the UK sound like a warzone of constant explosions. this is typically teamed up with a fire in the garden and normally some food of some description. The beginning are rooted in the Gunpowder plot on the 5th of November 1605 (before USA was a thing) when Guy Fawkes made an attempt on King James I's life by attempting to burn down the House of Lords. He was found out and the British celebrate the fact that King James I survived.
We don't have rules on fireworks like the USA so it's a kinda good display.

I know of this holiday but I wasn't sure if it was a big deal. Apparently it is seeing from the picture. Do you get the day off?

Retail/ service industry is basically Christmas day others get bank holidays which are used to describe public holidays where time off is typically given but companies are not obliged to allow time off for, England and Wales have 8 bank holidays a year Scotland has 9 and northern Ireland has 10. Easter and Christmas/ New year make up 5 of them.
