But after a couple months of thought, there's something about the '15 FoST that just doesn't seem right...
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
It's just too, corporate, if you get my meaning. It's still a good-looking car I guess, but my problem with it, is that it looks like a typical Ford now, and especially like the Fusion.
What I like about the bulbous front end of the 2013-14 FoSTs, is that they look different, more mature and elegant with smoother lines and a softer face.
(Picture from Motor Trend)
The 2015 to me, seems too boy-racer like and immature, with sharp and angled lines, and the addition of more black(plastic) parts, the future infamous diffuser rear bumper for sure.
Mind you, this new one isn't a bad looker at all. To me, cars, especially performance ones, should have an identity separate from regular cars, without many similarities from anything other than the cars they're based upon. The current FoST looks like a performance oriented Focus Hatch, same with the FiST. This new one, looks like a performance oriented Fusion if they made it a hatch, and no, it would not be called the Mondeo ST, MoST definitely not.

There's already been a Mondeo ST—more than one, in fact. MoST's here to stay, unless you're willing to give up on FoST and FiST. (I am, personally; they've never really done anything for me as nicknames.)
Anyway, the Focus ST's been something of a let-down in the looks department since they stopped building the Mark II facelift, for me.

Alternatively I like it for that reason. That said I like my cars stealthy so blending in with the rest of the range is appealing to me.
Also

Such a great car.

But it also stands out at the same time for it's otherwise sharp and edgy(but not really IMO) appearance. So that seems to be a bit of a contradiction in regards to whether or not it'll be a 'sleeper'.

True. I have no problem picking one out a mile away partly because massive rims and dat kit but mostly because all the Focus' in the UK seem to be painted bright yellow and everyone seemed to pick the debadging option. I'm surprised they haven't started charging for that considering how many cars are badge less these days.

They look basically the same. The front fascia on the 15 is much better IMO, the other one tried too hard

I mostly see orange down here in the South East, with the occasional - and very much welcome - blurple. (Or, well, the closest thing to proper blurple Ford do these days.)

The overall shape and concept is the same, the execution is different. If anything, the '13-14 tried too hard to be different from the Ford Family, and I think that was a good thing. Why would I want anyone to mistake a hot hatch for a Fusion?

I haven't seen one in the wild, much less driven one. I can only hope that the huge plastic grill isn't as tacky as it looks, I know the Toyota and Lexus front ends are hideous. Why is every car manufacturer putting acres of plastic on the front end?

The facelift brings with it the diesel version of the ST so I associate it with good things. That also means we'll have a new funny nickname to go with FiST among sport fords: the Focus STD.

The diesel version is high on my list of cars to replace the Panda with.

The black/red one in the pics are mine, I've seen that one in person, and it looks alright. The glossy bits look good, but the rear bumper is matte plastic and awful. Stands out way too much and it doesn't help that it's a non-functional diffuser too.

I forgot they made a ST TD. Man the Mondeo really is the gift that keeps on giving.

No one that would know what a hot hatch is would mistake it for a Fusion

It's too egg for me. Same with the Fiesta. Bulbous.

No we wouldn't.
The only people who know what a Focus ST is (or who would care) would know the difference. Even the old model I bet most members of the general public would just assume it's a normal focus
