So remember how earlier today I said my neighbor's boats !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ? Well, the city of Madison sprung into action today, which gave me an opportunity to get those damn boats out of the way, and have my neighbor think I'm all nice and neighborly.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

When I came home today, I saw a flatbed tow truck come up my street. I parked and went inside, then checked out to see if maybe the tow truck was there for my neighbor's boats. It was, in fact, lining up to tow away one of his boats.

I figured, hey, here's a chance to warn the neighbor that his boat is being towed, where he'll think I'm looking out for him, but he'll still have to end up moving the boats. So I rang his doorbell and told him there was a tow truck about to grab his boat. He was like "oh crap I better take care of that," and I went back inside.

A couple hours later, I had to go back outside to my car, and he was out there with a friend, getting ready to hook up one of his boats to his shitty conversion van. He thanked me for giving him the heads up about the tow truck, told me he was planning to store his boats at his grandparents' house but hadn't gotten around to it yet, and I saved him a bunch of trouble and money by him not having to get his boats out of impound.

Overall, he mostly came off as clueless. He said "I guess with the snow starting I should've expected this," but he didn't even know he had been collecting tickets. I told him alternate-side parking started back on November 15th, so it looks like the city's not wasting any time in moving offending stuff off the streets.

So, the boats are going away, the dude avoided having a much harder time with doing so, and as far as he knows, I'm his neighborly next door neighbor who saved him all that trouble.

Things are right with the world.

You're a nicer person than I am. Glad the boats are out of your way.

I'm not going to deny that this is a happy ending.

However, this is not the HAPPIEST POSSIBLE ending because that would have involved Kate Upton, lots of baby oil and a goat.
