My brother's '06 S40 just hit 82,500 miles and the general maintenance light went on like clockwork. Tonight we are changing the oil because it needs to be done anyways.

Is there anything else we should do to it? I couldnt find a clear answer anywhere online and I know you're a Volvo wiz.

Thanks in advance!

If it's on the Volvo schedule, it should have received spark plugs at 60k, and an engine air filter, cabin filter, and brake fluid at 75k. In addition to oil services, of course. By that schedule, the 82k is just an oil service. You might make sure it's up to speed on those items, and catch it up if not.

on 82.5's it is simply an oil change and a multipoint inspection as part of the basic 7,500 service

The next one at 90k though, you are looking at coolant, brake fluid, air/ac filters, oil cap seal, and spark plugs along with an oil change and multipoint inspection.

Awesome work with the fan clutch. I miss the days of repairing fan clutches, starter windings, replacing bad voltage regulators (instead of a new alt), etc.

My brother actually just bought the car in October. The previous owner was GREAT about keeping up to date on every single service and I checked all those things tonight so the car is all good to go! Just finished the oil change so we're golden.

Hey man thanks for the reply! I just got done with the oil change. That was a hell of a complicated car to change oil on haha

I'll probably be doing all the service for his 90K maintenance as well. It's fun for me and saves him a few bucks. What should he do about the maintenance light on the dash? Volvo dealer to get it turned off?

And thanks! This was my first time rebuilding a fan clutch so I was scared to mess it up. Everything went smoothly and the Z is running really cool now.

Service light can be reset there with you. Put key in and turn to position 1. Press and hold the trip reset button. Turn the key to position 2. Wait a couple seconds and the center light will start to blink. On the 3rd blink, let go. And that's it. Hint: will not work if trip reads zero.

A 90k maintenance isn't too bad. I recommend a tire rotation on each oil change because of the car's high negative rear camber.
