As with most of us I imagine, websites like Jalopnik have replaced the plethora of car magazines that I used to read back in the day. Every time I pick up an issue of Car & Driver now I notice that it seems to be short on content and long on advertisements.

Two magazines that I really miss though which are no longer in publication are Sports Car International and 0-60 magazine. Both magazines had minimal advertising, covered a broad variety of enthusiast topics and performance cars. One of my favorite SCI features was their top ten sports cars of the decade that covered the 60s/70s/80s/90s. I still have a few copies of both in my collection at home.

Any magazines that you guys miss from the heyday of print media?

Being an import guy, I had subscriptions to Import Tuner, Modified Mag, and SuperStreet. There was just something so unique about flipping through the physical pages of a car magazine.

Oh, the irony of being a social media professional pining for the lost days of actual print media... haha

0-60 might still have a website, as I thought they went online only.

Sport Compact Car will always be missed until the end of eternity. Thankfully you can find some of the staff over at MotoIQ.com.

0-60 is no longer a thing?

Happily, all the car magazines I grew up with are still in print, some are still good, others have taken a turn to worse.

I liked some of these magazines.

On May 29, 2014 Source Interlink Companies announced that it changed its name change to "TEN: The Enthusiast Network" and that it would cease production of numerous automotive titles as part of the company's name change. These titles include Popular Hot Rodding , Rod & Custom , High Performance Pontiac , Custom Classic Trucks , 4 Wheel Drive & Sport Utility , Mud Life , 5.0 Mustangs and Super Fords , Modified Mustangs & Fords , Camaro Performers , GM High-Tech Performance , Import Tuner , and Honda Tuning

I loved SCC. All the import tuner articles without the ricey ridiculousness. I'm not sure I knew about MotoIQ, I'll take a look!

OH MAN. I had a huge collection of SCI, spanning 1995-2003 or so. That was, hands-down, the best print mag out there. Hell, it was a 1992 interview of J Mays that I bought (ordered the back issue because it had an article on the Avus) that got me into car design in the first place. I kept my very favorite issues, but donated the rest to CCS's library when I graduated and moved from Detroit.

Damn shame. Best writers, best photos, most interesting features, and highest-quality printing.

Not print, but I miss the David E. days of Winding Road and the old Edmunds Inside Line.

Even being a hardcore domestic guy I loved SCC it was the best car magazine hands down.

I knew about 5.0 Mustang and Superfords but GM high tech performance, Rod and Customs and Popular hot rodding died too. Damn that sucks.

Yes sir, the Automotive section at the magazine place is looking kinda pathetic now.

Yeah Even the ones the survived are tiny now. My last issue of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords was a 102 pages, only a few years ago they were always 300+ sad sad times.

Sport Compact Car... I learned sooo much from that magazine. I tear up just thinking about it, glad I kept most of my issues.
