I had to wait a week to get these Red Wing Heritage 8146's since we !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . I had a heck of a time determining the size I needed. I wear size 10.5 in sneakers and turns out in Red Wings I'm size 8EE (double wide). Size 8EE is is the same length as a size 9.5D width and the red wings fit about a half size big. Not a common size and the boots had to be ordered. Well they Finally got here today.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Alongside the boots the Red Wing store gave me all sorts of goodies.
I got a free pair of socks and a free stainless shoe horn and a sticker to put on the Mazda. I bought the boot oil to keep these looking spiffy ($11.99) and the horsehair brush to apply it with ($4.99) While I has there I grabbed a new Carhart Tuque for $8.99 (in Canada Red Wing stores are Carhart distributors).
These fit absolutely spot on and $331.00 bucks later(including the extra swag) I could not be happier.

They look great! I was torn between Redwings or Timberlands for a while, but I think I'm going to pick up a pair of Timbs this winter. I seriously hope sizing isn't as complicated. I usually wear a 10, but a friend of mine told me that half a size down and a comfortable insert is usually the way to go.

I've had my 435's for a few years now, and they are still, if not more comfortable than new. I need to get new ones though, as the soles aren't replaceable on that design. Looks like they can re-sole yours, so they will last you a loooooong time.

Very nice. I've got Red Wings also, the ones with the zip up side. Fantastic. I've had them for over a year with nothing more than light cosmetic wear, and crazy comfortable. Definitely worth the money.

dude, definitely go to a mall of something to size them before you buy online (which sounds like your plan—otherwise sizing wouldn't be an issue)

Like "D" said definitely go try them first. like I said above I'm normally a 10.5 and these are size 8 and they fit me perfect. If I would of bought online for sure I would of gotten the wrong size. For ~$300 bucks these had to be perfect.

yup mine are infinitely rebuildable. Everything on the boot is lifetime warranty except the sole which is ~$100.00 to replace.

Nice. I should consider this. I currently wear Morell's all winter. I prefer more of a shoe to a boot though.

My 6-year-old Redwings are hands down the most comfortable footwear I've ever owned.

Yeah I was planning to do that this weekend, actually. More what I meant by that was I hope width and everything isn't an issue. I've heard from a few people that Timbs run wide so you have to take that into account too. I'm so used to asking for a size 10 and not even having to try anything on, that much more when it comes to shoe shopping seems tedious (though I don't mind trying on clothing. Odd). Either way, there's a Timberland store that is literally 0.9 miles away from where I am sitting so I just have to get off my lazy ass and go try on some boots. Ahaha

Yeah I definitely wouldn't order them online (which it seems like what I meant in my first comment. Oops!). Even a $200 boot had better fit pretty damn well for that cash. I told D this, but I was actually planning on going to the Timberland store this weekend, which is less than a mile away from where I'm sitting. My concern is the whole width issue, and I've heard from a few people that Timbs run wide. Really, I'm just lazy and trying on 5 different sizes of the same boot sounds so tedious. I have been a size 10 in essentially everything for a while so I can usually just ask for my size and not even have to try it on unless its a brand I've never worn before. Gettin' lazy in my shoe buying.

Good man. I had the same thing happen with sizing. I wear an 11.5 sneaker (tough to find wide size sneakers that don't look like old person shoes) and Red Wing sized me at. 9.5EEE. We settled on 10EEE since that size was more comfortable. Sick boots though, you're gonna love them...I'm rocking mine right now.

These will be my dailys for a while. So far so good. The machine sized me for an 8EE or a 9D, I could not even slip my foot in a 9.5D. I tried the 8.5EE and they were a bit on the loose side so I took the snugger 8EE because these are supposed to stretch a fair bit. The 8EE are snug, not tight so it will be perfect in a few weeks.

Nice. 6 years on, mine have loosened up a little, but only so much that a pair of Carhartt winter socks snugs them back up. You absolutely get what you pay for in boots.

Companies that make flight boots are all fantastic. Good choice.

I just realized some lands end boots I bought are exactly like those...well except they cost like $35 and are (I assume) no way comparable to those in quality.

I've never payed more than $80 bucks for shoes prior to these. But even just 2 days in I can tell you that this is the way to go. I'll never go back to junk footwear again.

I'm getting ready to drop my Red Wings off tomorrow for a resole, and I thought of this thread.
I'm taking before and after photos to compare what they look like.

Right on I'm glad you remembered. I'm in canada so it's a bit more for resole here it's $150.00 including shipping to and from. I hope you post an after picture so we can compare. So far the boots have been pretty good but they do make my feet sore after a while of walking. I've only had them a month but I do wear them about 75% of the time. I figure they still need to break in some.

I got my boots back yesterday.
New soles, but it took almost a month. Why? Apparently, they don't have cork soles at the "regional" shop, only at the plant. The store fucked up and sent them to their closest shop, and had to wait an additional week or so for the soles to be shipped from the plant. They should have sent them back to the main plant.
I dropped them off over the winter because the motorbike is parked, so the extra wait wasn't really an issue.
Forgive the over-production value on this image, I put it together to share with my brother-in-law, who gave me "resoles" as a Xmas gift. I made this to send to him as a "thank you."

AWESOME looks good as new! I'm now wearing mine daily and a they are now really comfortable. At first I wasn't completely sold but now that I have some proper foot time with them I'll never own any thing else. Red Wings for life!
