While on a pallet waiting outside a friend's shop to be shipped out for repairs, the 6spd transmission for my Evo was stolen. Probably for scrap metal $$. I am currently broke, so fixing it is not going to be easy. Any market for a Trannyless evo???? (minus a lot of interior parts, plus a bolt-in rollbar)

... Wow... people suck. The shop that it was in should have insurance I would think

it was an after hours job, so not "officially" at the shop. I wouldn't be able to use the shop's insurance

That sucks. I am sorry to hear that m8.

well, at this point, you have to decide what's more valuable: that transmission or that hookup. take the guys to small claims or just let it slide.

If the gearbox was in their control, you might be able to, but that will depend on the law in your state. Talk to your friend about what's been successfully claimed on their policy before.

How long ago? Have you got many scrap yards locally, maybe call them? Hope you can get it back.

Check Craigslist, scrap yards, anything. Hope you get it back, or at least something!

Ill give about a tree-fiddy.
That really sucks man. Hopefully you get it figured out.

If it was on the property it might be covered under insurance. I know my business coverage covers everything in my property lines 24/7. That sucks though. Start calling local junkyards, you might be able to pick another one up for cheap.

Awful :(

I know you said you don't want to try the shop's insurance, but what about your auto coverage? Or do you just carry liability?

Use your auto insurance or the shop insurance to claim on your/their policy. It would suck with a tranny less evo

Hate to say it, but this just screams inside job to me. Someone knew it would be on the pallet and took it.

Hard to say. My dad has a used parts business and has always had a problem with theft. The crooks just come around periodically looking for stuff. These are the same assholes that will strip all of the copper out of a house while you are on vacation or dismantle a backroad bridge for a few bucks.

You know, I wish the cops would crack down on scrap yards for this shit. You know they know that half the scrap that comes through their doors is stolen. If they made the scrap yards culpable or charge them as an accessory I bet a lot of the scrapping problem would be solved

You and me both, brother. It's been a problem for a long time. There are tons of scrap yards that are pretty much only in business because of the illicit scrap stream.

suck!
no good market, you'll get low balled for sure. Do any of the cheaper/lesser 5 speeds bolt up? Might be worth asking the parents for a brief loan to install something/anything to get it rolling so you can sell it.
