We live in a world where there is more and more information, and less and less meaning.
Information devours its own content. It devours communication and the social. And for two reasons....1. Rather than creating communication, it exhausts itself in the act of staging communication. Rather than producing meaning, it exhausts its self in staging meaning...2. Behind this exacerbated mise-en-scene of communication, the mass media, the pressure of information pursues an irresistible destructuration of the social.
The lowest form of energy of a sign. This unarticulated, instantaneous form, without a past, without a future, without the possibility of metamorphosis, has power over all others.
These billboards, in fact, observe and surveil you as well, or as badly, as the 'policing' television. The latter looks at you, you look at yourself in it, mixed with the others, it is a mirror without silvering in the activity of consumption.

Anymore I don't watch much else aside from Deadwood/ Sons of Anarchy/ Boardwalk Empire/ X Files/ Twin Peaks etc. Serial stuff that I can roll out on DVd or grab from the ether when I need it. Occasional affairs with The Office (no, not the damned British Office), New Girl, Mindy Project.
Funny how we need our minds fed by stimuli instead of substance: as a modern example, take our trash talkong of any website which appears to be more than a few years old. It's "Geocities" or "looks like old Flash animation" or like a MySpace page. Never mind what's behind it—if it doesn't sell you sizzle, you wouldn't dare buy the steak.

WE WANT TO CONSUME THINGS
Hence why GIFs are so popular. They're short enough for our attention spans yet they're irresistibly charming. How many people liked GIFs 20 years ago, other than web designers? How many like them now? See what I mean...
The rhizome, er, internet rather is changing so many aspects of our lives. Many of us don't even think about it, but how we are connected online and how we use the internet really allows for a freedom of expression and narcissism unlike any era before.

This is why I haven't had tv service in over ten years. We watch a small amount of select content on just Netflix or hulu, or dvd's.

I watch topgear(uk), the wings and a few HBO shows exclusively but less and less over time I do listen to a lot of podcasts though

That's funny, I don't remember making any other posts today. This one is unusually philosophical for you, without the usual humor. I like it.
