Im not really sure why either, I just do. I love the idea of them, I like flying in them, hell other than security I even really like airports. That being said, flying as a whole just fascinates me.

Someone went rafting and found these in the river recently.

Same, I've always been fascinated by aircraft. Commercial and Military. Same with ships.

That would be tough to carry while rafting.
You must lift.

I'm not saying I can carry an entire 737 fuselage with me.
But I can totally carry an entire 737 fuselage with me.

Hey, I've flown on that plane! A few years ago I flew DTW-NRT (Detroit to Narita Japan) on N670US. Why do I have this tail number memorized? I was day-dreaming/staring aimlessly out of the window in the airport while I waited to board... the tail number just happened to be framed perfectly in the window in front of me and it become a useless thing I unintentionally committed to memory. OK, kind of a lame story, I should've given it more meaning... did I mention I fell in love on that flight? Yeah, that sounds better :)

That was a train derailment in Montana back in July... while a rafter may have taken this picture, your comment made it sound like someone just dumped em in the river and a guy rafting happened to find them.

I know, I just prefer to think that's what happened.

Nice. I lived pretty close to the airport when I was a kid so when ever we flew it was almost always out on Northwest planes. With Detroit being their hub an all. Now its practically the same just with Delta.
But since so many family vacations were gotten to because of Northwest I have a soft spot for it.

My love of aviation was started when I was young. My parents were divorced, and my older brother and I flew twice a year, unaccompanied, to visit my mom. I still find airports thrilling places, full of activity and motion. When my wife and I went to Chicago for vacation, we went out to ORD and just sat in the Seven Continents lounge to experience the atmosphere and look at planes. So, I know exactly how you feel. I have parlayed that fascination into aviation photography as a hobby. I'll sit at an airport for hours, smoking cigars, and taking pictures of airplanes. And I'm a sucker for an air show of any size.

I miss working for Northwest. Still the most fun job I've ever had.
Pay was shit though.
