I drive past a Chevy dealership every day and this morning I saw something that I thought was pretty awesome. They had a brand new red, crew cab, 4x4 Silverado out in the prominent position on the lot.

So what, you ask? Well this particular one looked to still be wearing the black, 20" steelies that it got shipped with (in order to prevent theft/damage to the actual wheels in transit I believe).

The combination of the typical 4WD pickup with those steelies looked awesome. No SR20 because I was driving, but if I can pull over and snap a pic tonight I will.

It looked somewhat like this:

I think the transport steel wheels are 22"

We got a truck in the shop with the 22" steelies and it looked like it'd be awesome lowered with some little smoothie hubcaps...

*Edit*

Here's a picture of the one we had:

Those are awesome! Can you buy these transporter wheels? 20 inch solid steelies look bad ass!

the trucks went to 6 lug in 99 on the 1500s so that all the trucks can share the front suspension. The spindles are even the same between 2wd and 4wd pickups. I would love to see a 5 lug silverado again

Good looking pickup. That's the only way to have a pickup, std cab short box:,

I'd guess not. They're probably engineered to be as cheap as possible and just basically hold the truck up until the proper wheels can be installed. I'm guessing they're not street legal.

If GM does like Dodge does, though, the spare should be a road-worthy black steelie in the same diameter of the stock wheels.

My '03 Ram had the factory 20s and the spare was a big black 20. It was awesome.

Because it is. Some places actually sell them even though they're not DOT tested.

yeah even if they were 5 lug, mopar has a different bolt pattern. Ford and mopar are the same though
