I'm happy to report that the cheapie $37.99 !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! jump starter box that I bought yesterday, has already completed its first successful jump start.

The battery on my Grand Cherokee has been getting pretty low. It's needed a couple jump starts. I haven't replaced it, because I'm likely about to trade it in.

My friend just gave me an old jump starter box he had lying around his garage—he's moving and getting rid of stuff—but it's dead. So yesterday I hit up Sears and got the cheapest-ass jump starter box they had: the Plus Start Portable Power 500.

Around 10:15 last night, I got a call last night from the friend who had given me the old busted jump start box. He and another friend were at the dumpsters behind a grocery store dropping off crap from his house, and their car died. They asked me for a jump start since I'd likely get there a faster than AAA, and it was 15 degrees out.

So, I grabbed my spiffy new Plus Start Portable Power 500, headed over to the dumpsters behind the grocery store, and hooked it up to their battery. It started on the very first try.

Those things are so convenient. I've got this one here, it was a gift from my mom and stepdad. I think it ran $40 or $50. They are really good to have, because you're not always going to have access to jumper cables. I like this one because it has 12V outlets, a USB port, an attached LED light, and a separate detached LED flashlight.

Probably one of the best things to keep in your car. They're really not that big, and they do the job pretty well. Mine's a cheap one, as well, but unless you work at a dealership or something, you probably don't need anything more than what you have.

They are pretty neat. Make sure to charge it back up every month or so; they lose charge fast just sitting there.
