Broke a belt on the Taurus on the way home from work. Fortunately I was less than a mile from home when it happened, but...suddenly no alternator, virtually no steering, even worse lighting than usual...I managed to nurse the poor thing home, and I've got a ride down to AutoZone on the way. I was planning to sleep today. Oh well, later on I'll either post Adventures in Mending 2: The Mendening or I'll post pictures of me hurling myself into a volcano because I can't fix it. Should be an interesting day, I've got twelve and a half hours to figure it out.

belts are easy. Check what tool you need to release the tensioner. Ribbed pulleys go to the inside of the belt, smooth on the outside.

Thanks. Yeah, it looks easy enough, but given my history with trying to fix things, I'm a bit concerned. Oh well, the worst that can happen is someone tries to start the car with my arms still in there and I come out looking like some sort of rejected Cthulhu worshipper.

Make an offering to the mighty Google, and search for a routing diagram. That should alliviate some confusion.

Yep, Google and a handy diagram on the inside of the hood were my friends. That damn thing was a pain to get on there though, I don't understand how it could have come off without completely breaking. I also don't understand how it ended up in that sort of condition, I check it pretty frequently. Like, at least once every couple of weeks frequently. Oh well. All is good, I even drove it back to AutoZone to take the tool back that I borrowed.
