I know many of us are really enamored with the visual and aural sensations of racing. There's nothing that compares with the sounds and speed of the old Formula 1 series. Some have come around and accepted the degradation of the sport with the new turbo-6 engines mandated by the FIA (I'm not one of them). But for those that are more environmentally conscious, there is a new formula series called Formula E. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Formula E is trying to brand itself as the Top Tier ala FIA of electric car racing. And they've got some big names involved. Andretti Motorsports, Audi, Renault, Dragon Racing, Venturi, and Virgin Racing are some of the teams. And with drivers like Nelson Piquet, Oriol Sevia, Sebastien Buemi, Nick Heidfeld, Lucas DiGrassi, etc there's definitely some talent involved.
I watched the inaugural Formula E race more out of curiosity than fanboy. And it was quite entertaining, like watching Formula 1 withe the volume muted. The promoters have ingeniously planned their schedule during the off season of most other motorsports so they'll be the only game in town during the winter, probably to increase viewer support. Most races will only be broadcast on the internet until/if it catches on. The races are short - they are electric cars... And the one pitstop is to change cars. Yes that's right, no gas, no tire changes, no adjustments, just climb out of one car, strap on another with fresh tires and batteries, and go.
I'll miss the live feed since this is the final F1 race weekend, but I'll catch it later next week.

Yeah, Fox Sports 1 or whatever shows it live and then runs a replay. At least with the Beijing race they did.
