"Trunk Impaired 318" (matteocscaptura)

So a couple weeks ago I decided to leave my MR2 at home since it had developed a decent oil leak and I had just ordered snow tires for it. Since Ive got my 325ci, albeit not exactly a DD anymore as its really only suitable for track use, I figured it wouldn't be too much of a problem. Turns out my dad decided that he wanted to not drive his car in during the winter so he had been DDing the 325 which really isn't bad since he only drives like 5 miles round trip each day and since I took that he decided that he'd start DDing the MR2, whatever. Turns out he bottomed it out the other day and cracked the oil pan so it loses half a quart every day he drives it. Now I was gonna replace the oil pan along with a few other things like the valve cover gaskets when I got home next so it wasn't a big deal to me but he still refuses to drive his car because its got summer tires on it that don't work in the rain let alone the cold and snow. His logic there is fine except for the fact that he's got a set of winter tires on steelies that he can throw on (which we've done for the past 7 or 8 years) that takes all of maybe half an hour. Now he's just trying to have his friends shop patch the MR2 together so it's in somewhat drivable condition so he can get the 325 back. Meanwhile I'm over here buying good parts and setting time aside to do the work properly so I don't have to worry about any of this again for the 3 years that it has left of DD life. Fuck this. /rant

frankly, you dad shouldnt have been driving that car to begin with. he has his own car. he should use his own friggen car. ESP since he has tires for it.

So he's been driving your car, cracked the oil pan, continues to drive it in that condition, and still refuses to stop driving it just because? I don't know what to say. That's messed up.

Funny - glanced at the comment and read "friggen" as "Viggen." Probably an unrealized fantasy.

I mean the oil pan was about to go anyway so Im not really worried about that, I ordered a new one a couple days ago and it'll get there in a couple days. He keeps putting oil in it so its not anything too detrimental but he's complaining about it leaving oil on the driveway and wants his friend to replace the oil pan and valve cover gaskets. Seeing as how this guy hasn't worked on a 4AGE before let alone an MR2 I'm less than thrilled at that when I'm capable enough of doing it myself. Im just worried that if he does replace them it won't be done right. He's done stuff before for us when we don't have the time (and its free labor) but nothing like this.

Why has this not happened already? You could totally get that engine into an MR2!

Yep, pretty much any FWD drivetrain can be rigged to work in it. There are so many crazy engine swaps for the AW11s and SW20s.

I have a sinking feeling I just cost a lot of people here a few thousand bucks each.
MR2 Viggen. Born from little tiny jets.
