I'd say Im happy, but not ecstatic. The ATS coupe is on the conservative side and I like a caddy thats bold and brash. I don't want an Americanized German car, I want an American car. The CTS coupe was just so adventurous compared to it. I'm not saying the ATS needs an ass 5 feet tall, but something thats not just, so, there , would be nice.

i suppose they get an A for effort. but for my personal tastes i'm not too fond of the designs. we probably all pay too much attention to headlight design these days, but i just can't get into those smeared off corners.

i think the current bmw 5 and 7 series are more handsome cars, even though i would never buy one.

I guess I see Cadillac styling as so unique and attractive that I think the company didn't need to take risks. Although I was expecting something less vanilla. Sometimes though vanilla tastes the best. I think if don't want Americanized go look at the ATS-V.

Cadillac is doing great! my only issue is it needs more DOHC v8! and I want my laurels and ducks back!

more to the point of the DOHC v8, I love the northstar and believe they copped out by not continuing the development of it. Cadillac needs it's own flag ship engines.

to your original question, yes i'm happy that an american car company is actually putting some thought and effort into designing and styling an automobile.

i'm not completely familiar with the current/near future lineup of cadillac sedans but its nice to have real competitive options beyond the same old germans.

i would say that i'm more upset with jaguar losing some of their originality of design with the current XJ.

Oh no, we will never see another stand alone flagship engine for Cadillac, it's a terrible business idea. Which is a shame. But over all it's a lot of money, work and development for a very small market and in the end it would suffer for these reasons. Look at the first gen northstar head gasket issue for instance. they did fixed it and by the last gen they where pushing some good power, with great MPG as well! but they killed it off instead of continuing to develop the engine. Just makes me sad, I love mine soo much. So smooth, and the great DOHC v8 sound.. gah.. makes me shed a tear thinking of ever having to get rid of mine.

Just because it is unique doesn't mean it is good the Kim butt on the CTS was a little revolting to be honest. Still like the car but it wasn't the best styling element of it.
