My ISP, Charter, advertises 60 Mbps internet as its base speed. Which is all well and good, but I wasn't really ever seeing 60 Mbps. More like 35 Mbps tops. I discovered my modem has a gigabit ethernet port, and my Macbook Pro and LG G2 have 802.11ac wifi. So I decided to !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

After a little messing around with the DNS server and channel settings, but nothing particularly intensive, it's running pretty great. I did the speed test above while sitting on the toilet in the powder room on the first floor of my townhouse. The router is upstairs in my office/guest room.

It's weird, the pings on my MBP are slightly slow. Here's the results with my G2 testing from the same server, and done in the same bathroom.

Yeah I updated to AC a little while ago. I'm now getting all of Time Warner's 16 mbps download and 1 mbps upload.

Yup, 802.11ac sure is nice
Time Warner recently upgraded all 80mb/s users to 100+ for free, next it'll be 300! But AT&T is supposedly bringing a gigabyte soon. I can't wait for that!
