I'll probably write a bit more later, just super excited but exhausted right now.
I ate a bagel this morning before I left for the dealership.....so I'm now preparing my second meal of the day at 8PM.
The drive from Colorado Springs home to Boulder went well. I was sure to bring it up and down the rev-range which probably annoyed the shit out of other drivers while I sprinted to nearly triple digits (let's keep this non-incriminating...) and then back down to 60 again. Engine break-ins are fun.
I even had a sheriff in a new Charger playing with me (!). I was a bit nervous at first, especially when he decided to hang out behind me when I first passed, but he did a few decent pulls with me. I figure he was letting me off easy since I was wearing a t-tag dated today and being extremely vigilant about my driving despite the speed changes. Also, see: sheriff patrols usually won't bother you unless you're being absolutely outrageous.
Some dude in an IS-F tried to race me too.
Sales guy really wanted to sell me all-seasons to swap out the Advans. Lol?

Awesome! The '14s were the last with the Recaros. Betcha the sales guy wanted the Advans for himself.

Just curious, why the Evo over the competition (STi?). Not criticizing it at all, I just never see anyone buying an Evo anymore

As I recall everyone is going like 90 between at least Castle Rock-Denver anyway

Well, part of it was actually your last sentence. STis are nearly a dime a dozen out here where I live (CO).
I also think that the Evo is just a better drive (dons flamesuit). The STi is easier to live with, nicer on the inside, a tad more practical, but the driving dynamics in the Evo are second to none in the price range IMO.

Indeed. I was the one that made the post recently about the terrible seats in the 2015.
It was definitely an influence to make the purchase (if I'm going to do it, may as well get it while it's good).

Yup.
Still....it's frightening how quick this thing gathers speed. It's easy to pick out a car when they went from beside you to a quarter mile out front in like 5 seconds.

Sweet ride. Props for getting the Evo. I very rarely see them, including new and odd ones. I'd definitely pick one of these over a STi just because they are way less common.

Amen man, (former STi owner). I would never admit that the EVO is the better driver, until after I sold mine haha. The EVO's steering is spot on!

Get some winter tires and profit from having SAYC in the cold and wet and snow and ice and basically what is considered a playground. I had a neighbor that had a 13 evo, it was a nice car, but those damn seats are just too damn small for me. But I do actually dig the evos, so enjoy it and enjoy living in a place where you can have fun with the electronic wizardry that it comes equipped with.

Welcome to Evo ownership! Be sure to find the manuals online somewhere as you will need to learn how to do your own wrenching as there are very few dealerships who know what to do with the things. I know from experience.

Yeah, the seats are a tad on the snug side for me too at 6'0" 200lbs. It would be nice if the bolsters were just the slightest bit wider. I can deal though, I still really like the seats and they keep me in place incredibly well for OEM equipment.
It will be wearing Blizzaks probably sometime this week, and also adorned with a Thule roof rack. My snowboarding habit can't wait much longer than a week.

I usually order the factory service manuals for all of my cars, and proudly do the wrenching myself. Looking forward to it.

If your going to get winters, head down to the local audi dealership and order yourself a set of marangoni 4 ICE e's. Seriously, best winter tire ever. we have michilen X-ice 2s on my moms IS250 (AWD) my dad FWD a3 TDI with the aformentioned tires eats it in the snow (weird I know, but still)
I mention audi dealership because they seem to be the only guys who consistant have them in stock. at least around me.

I'm kind of terrible at driving it right now, but hoping that gets better with time.

Believe me it will.
I barely knew how to drive stick before I got my manual. Now I stall about 2x a year.

To be honest...I didn't even know they still made evo's.
