The turbo manual convertibles are almost impossible to find! Basically a convertible Neon SRT4 with a muffler. And it's only $4000. They're easy to find with an automatic, hard to find a 4-door manual, even harder to find a manual convertible. Like a Nismo CrossCabrio :p
not sure if interesting enough to send to the robber, unless he's hurting for cars to list.

Wait, there is such a thing as a Nismo cross cabrio?

And slathered in horrible Autozone chrome.

That is atrocious. I love it.

Nissan never created that, but Mercedes made them 10 years ago :p

"Basically a convertible Neon SRT4 " ............LOL!
The PT cruiser having the turbo motor doesn't mean it got all the other upgrades the SRT-4 did. Yes it still has the forged internals and the motor itself is mostly the same but you're still on some awfully skinny tires and the drivetrain is nothing to write home about, let alone the suspension. In essence, that is too much motor for the car now that the roof is cut off. Buying this car for 4000$ is overpaying by 3000$

The diamond plate trunk and subwoofer makes me think this thing has been ragged out. Also these things drink way more gas than anything this small should. That snail is a thirsty little bastard!

At least there's aftermarket support for it. Koni shocks, and of course performance tires and shit. But still, a good sleeper (if you lay off the autozone chrome shit, at least)

Sorry. I also forgot to mention the Autozone chrome....Nothing good has happened there. Or, drop some money and have a mechanic check it out for you if you are serious.

Eh, I feel like a supercharged 3800 car would be a better sleeper. Especially one of the lesser known models like the Oldsmobile LSS or Park Avenue Ultra. At the end of the day, if SRT-4 drivers still got crapped on for driving a neon.........Imagine the flak you're going to take for being in a PT convertible.......

But imagine the glory of showing up to an autocross in one and doing well

I've always liked the Regal GS.

Yeah I agree nothing good has happened. I'm not going to buy it, not ready to buy another car yet, but I do search for cars from time to time, and I just came across the unicorn, that's all.

No glory, only shaaaaaaaaaaaame

I dunno, if somebody brought one out Id be impressed. At my last event one of our regulars Z4s wasn't ready so he brought his Mini Countryman and won PAX, thats fairly comparable to that PT

Eh, minis are expected to do quite well actually.

Coopers yes, the Countryman though…. it just looked wrong but damn was he fast in it.

One of these needs to survive just to prove a point one day.
I don't know what that point will be, but it will certianly be one.

Eh, even if it isn't my cup of tea (ha! british!) I don't doubt that BMW worked some magic with the suspension. And if it had AWD, it isn't too big of a shocker. Now what I get impressed by are the more standard versions of cars beating their high performance variants. Like base Mazda3s beating Speed3s or a TDI golf running neck and neck with a GTI. Especially in the street/stock categories.

The guy ran it in STX so I bet he did some suspension work as well, I think he said he had heavy duty bilsteins on it since it was his winter car but he made it work. And I think a big part of the base model cars doing as well has something to do with the fact that they can use all of their power. I run a stock '99 BMW 318ti with a paltry 138 HP, at least thats what it was 15 years ago, but I can use all of that power and just keep my foot flat throughout most of the course and not really have to worry about it.

The Fiesta STis similar. I ran an autocross with the Porsche Club of AMerica and on the course walk the guy goes "OK this straight looks long but you have to approach it out of a very slow corner so you won't get out of second" ........Yeah let me tell you how far second gear got me - about halfway down that straight. 2nd tops out at 54 mph. I would shift into 3rd and regularly hit 70+ for the rest of the day. Oh and for a really sharp turn, most cars would come out from this little infield, go up high on some banking, and go out wide to make a sudden hairpin turn to go back into the infield.......me? THere were no cones so I just turned hard right and made it. I got 2nd in "non Porsche" class, got 4th overall, and decimated the crowd of Cobalt SSes and FoSTs.

The FiST is crazy, good low end power, short wheelbase, lightweight-ish, good chassis and suspension, I don't know how the SCCA figures it should get moved DOWN to HS, if that doesn't just decimate PAX next year ill be shocked
![]() 11/17/2014 at 22:43 |

Yeah there was zero reason for that. I honestly don't understand why they bumped it down besides bribery/whining from Focus ST owners that the Fiesta could beat them upon occasion. I think the best compromise would be to allow FiSTs to run an extra 10mm width tires for a total of 20mm wider over stock. GTIs are running what? 245? 255 width? Meanwhile FiSTs are capped at 215 I believe. So even though they're bigger, heavier, and no more powerful, Mk6 GTIs run so much tire that they are very successful in GS.
