Curious what your GoPro video settings are for recording AutoX. My first rodeo with both and I could use some pointers.
288GTO for your input.

I just have it on the default. I have no idea if it's the best settings, but I've just never played with it.

Well unfortunately I got all excited and jacked around with the settings before ever filming a thing. So now I have no idea what the default even is.

1080p 60FPS. I like SuperView, since it's a suuuuuper wide angle of video. If your memory card isn't super big, then 30FPS does the job. But with the higher framerate, you can slow down the footage by half and still get smooth results.

I uses 1080p at 30fps. I've also used 720p at 60fps. Now that youtube can handle 60fps I might drop back to 720p to be able to use the smoother video. Otherwise I haven't had a need to change from defaults. Both videos below are 1080p 30fps

I usually set mine to "On".

prawns does autoX? where does you do this in the palouse?
my contour+ only does 720 at 60 fps

I own a contour+ which is not a gopro, but more or less the same idea. I've never done autocross, but my camera can do 720p at 60fps or 1080p at 30fps, for stuff that is more action related I suggest a higher frame rate, so in my case it would be 720p at 60fps, plus my camera is weird, it has a 170 degree Field of view at 720p, but only 135 degrees at 1080p

Nah, I don't autoX here or at home, but those are the GoPro settings I run with for both sports (yay head strap mount!) or on my car with the suction cup mount.
Go 60FPS whenever possible. Hyper-smooth.

so I'm guessing you have the hero3+ as a gopro?

Yeah, the 3+ Black. Picked it up this summer. No complaints.

coolio... it would be fun to do some minor offroading together around the palouse sometime, me mountaineer has a 4WD low range, and a crappy underpowered V6 :(

Those both look good. I may give that a try. Filmed the last one in 720p/60 frames.

The settings aren’t as important as the location of the camera. It you want the maximum Speed” effect then mount it as low and as close to the ground as possible.
Mount it on the drivers side quarter window for a good “hero driver” shot.
Front quarter panel level with the wheel center for “Pylon whizzing by” shots.
an inside mount tents to have the view out the windshield exposure settings all “blown out” so be carful.
....... and make sure your mount is secure. you won’t go fast enough to blow it off at an autocross but if there are bumps you might shake it off.
