I texted my old man about being sick today, and his first question was "Have you had any bourbon for your cough yet?" Stupidly, the answer was no, so now we have some Knob Creek with a little honey syrup and lemon juice. Doing wonders for my throat.

I tried Knob Creek (I have a bottle sitting in my cabinet) and I found it absolutely foul. It's not sweet at all. I like Jim Beam Black for comparison. Would adding honey and lemon juice help the flavor?

Well I don't look for sweetness in my bourbon necessarily, but the honey and lemon pretty much have that covered. It's pretty woody overall.

A show buddy would get brandy water with lemon and honey, nuke it in the microwave, have a few and be better the next day. Crazy Minnesota people....

Have three of four. It may not help your cough, but you won't care any more.

Whiskey, honey, lemon. It has been a sure cure for many decades.

An old line from Dave Barry - alcohol prevents colds, since I began drinking heavily I have not had one cold that I remember clearly

I'm a Scotch drinker myself, but I entirely agree – a good whisky with lemon and honey is a wonderful thing for a sore throat or cough. It's one of the rare times that I'll allow something other than a tiny dash of water into my drink.

Knob Creek is great. Try Buffalo Trace, really good and inexpensive.
