So my buddy has an auctioned-off two-tone yellow government truck that he locked his keys in. And his money. And his phone.
Being a state-champion track star, he just ran back to work.
It has manual windows and no electronic locks. Anybody have any advice? He got in touch with the local police, but since he is 200 feet outside of the Aberdeen police department's jurisdiction and only 200 feet inside the Southern Pines police department's, they can't help him.
He doesn't want to spend the money on a locksmith if he can help it.
Any advice?

Do what the locksmith will do - wedge and a coat hanger.
Wedge open either the window or door just enough to get the coat hanger in, and try to pop the lock.

Either jimmy the lock if the truck is old enough and susceptible to that, or pay the locksmith.
Or break the cheapest window on the truck. It would likely cost about the same as the locksmith.

Coat hangar through the door frame or try to pull the window down to get the coat hangar in there. If it is an older truck I'd suggest making multiple copies of the key so he could keep them in strategic locations he frequents. Really the safest way to do it would be a locksmith with a slimjim or inside tool, or if someone is nice enough to use their AAA on his dumbass. Other than that it is trying to figure out the best way to get a coat hangar to work.

Pop off the bottom window seal on the door, find the rod that connects to the door lock with a coat hangar or anything you can hook it with and unlock. Last time I did it I looked up what the cars lock mechanism looked like so i could do it by feel.

Does it have vent windows? Those things can sometimes be pretty easy to get open, especially if the lock is broken (a lot of them are) or it doesn't have one.

Maybe contact a local car dealer? There's been a few occasions at my dealer we've had to break into cars on our lot- either keys were lost, locked inside, wrong keys, etc. If yoou would call during service hours maybe they can help?

There's actually a row of dealerships right next to where he had his truck, and we're a food delivery company that goes there all the time. That would have been a great idea, thanks!

No problem! If the truck's still there it's worth a shot! The worst they can say is no.
