...because sometimes the exaggeration and parody is just way to close to reality for comfort.
Take for example, the curious case of one Bernie "The Goblin" Ecclestone.
Imaginary quote in a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! : 'Formula 1 doesn't need [cars]. Having a car on the track doesn't sell advertising. Having an advertisement on the track, that's what sells advertising.'
Actual quote in a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! : "..there's no point trying to reach these kids because they won't buy any of the products [advertised] here."
Essentially, saying F1 doesn't need new viewers younger than 40, because the only point of F1 is to sell shit. RIGHT NOW.
Fuck you too, Bernie.

That's the idea behind Parody.
I admire Bernie. A Dictator without a Country.

Yes of course, parody is supposed to take reality and go a little further into the absurd with it. But when the parody has to go so far into scary territory just to diferentiate itself from reality, that's probably a sign that something's wrong.
