After not driving it for a while I sat down and assessed whether or not I actually need the Disco in my life. I'm ashamed to admit that the only real reason I bought it in the first place was because it made me feel great driving it, like a status symbol. I didn't buy it for how it drives, for its on/off-road capabilities, for the way it looks, or because my head went 'DO WANT'. It was simply bought because I wanted to look good. After a year of ownership it has only illustrated the fact that any car bought to make you feel better about your self is really just an accessory to your desired image, rather than something to be genuinely excited and passionate about. After a while the novelty wears off and it becomes a car. Just a car, with no personality. I'm not that sort of person, and this has helped me realise that. So say goodbye, it's getting picked up by it's new self-obsessed owner tomorrow night (probably unfair), and I'm going to get my fat white British arse into the shed afterwards to work on the Series because I actually LOVE IT, and it's a bit shit, therefore PERSONALITY.

It has taken me a while to realize as well, that looking good is only skin deep. It won't help you become a better person or anything, so I'm actually trading down and getting rid of our nice car and getting something that I can simply pay for in cash and not worry about making payments for

Good man, just make sure it's got a bit of soul. What are you thinking of getting?

I think I'm just going to slum it in a Crown Vic for a few years. It's the last of the big American land barge V8s in RWD fashion, so I figure why not... With some proper suspension upgrades, it can be a well-sorted machine without looking the part. I absolutely love road trips, so this car will suit me well. Additionally my wife and I will be having kids soon, so I need something that I can fit a child seat in the back without having a negative effect on the passenger's comfort

I absolutely concur, I'd rock a Crown Vic if I could get my hands on one! A fine choice
