I was going to say "don't do it" but I'm in a hard spot myself and I get it. (I have to let my Bird go and take a loan from the family.)

Want it BAD but don't have enough to give a reasonable offer and don't want to disrespect you with a lowball price.

Well how low were you gonna offer, I know people here don't have much but I'm always curious on offers.

Damn... if this were 3 months and a day ago, I would've offered you up to $20,000 for it, because I was buying the GLI then, and because helping out an oppo in need is worth it.
hate to say, but I can't help you out man... I'd be willing to offer $17,500 if I had that, but I don't

Been looking for a Torino, Roadrunner or a Challenger around your cars age because I love them and need one. My uncle had told me that his mom (my g-ma) has a neighbor who bought a Challenger in the 80's. Any way he bought a 72 Challenger with a factory 340 that was stolen and found with no engine, rear end or interior. He fixed it slapped in a 318 and drove it for a couple years before he had more kids and let it sit in his backyard under tarps.
Well I made a deal with his son (the guy is old and living in Mexico now) for 6.5k. Barely got to 5k till I had to pay for school and a lawyer for being stupid. Would sell my car and throw the 2k I have now on top but I just got him and I promised that this is his forever home. So all I could do is 2k and thats a nutsack punchable answer.
Wish I could at least see your 73 Torino though (also live in Illinois) last time I saw one was in 2005 in Mexico City driving around super clean in a metallic flake navy blue paint job. Most likely a drug dealers and stolen is whatmy cousin said as it drove by.

Damn, I would be tempted from sheer nostalgia since my first car was a Gran Torino but my whole department just got put on half time so money is tight. I'm sorry you're in the position where you have to sell. I know I wish I still had my Torino.

Sweet only a 5 hour drive from Chicago. Your car would be totally be worth the trip but then I would have to dip into my TIG welding fund too and that is not bueno.

But is the Tranny as good as this tranny?
Just kidding.
Seeing your Torino brings back memories of my childhood when my dad had a 1976 Gran Torino which look similar, but the front and rear lights were a bit different. Also the '76 probably had nowhere near the power yours has.
I'm not in the market for something like this, but I hope you find a good home for it and get your asking price.

Sorry you have to sell. Unfortunately I know that feel. I have to pawn possessions just to make rent this month.
Hope someone comes along to treat her good, and hope things get better for you man,

How much would I have loved that car in high school?
Have you had it appraised? Might be worth seeking out a pro and paying a couple hundred for a valuation.

Might want to have a pro look at it ... if it would fetch 20 grand at auction you want to know, if it's worth 14 grand on a good day, you want to know that. Might be worth trucking it to an auction in another state if it'll fetch a couple grand extra.

That's the thing about these cars - take 'em to the right auction on the right day in the right place and get max $, advertise in the wrong place and get no response, or responses from idiots who think it's a normal used car.
Guessing this is a '70 or '71? My uncle sold Fords in Baltimore in the 70s, and I may or may not have driven something like this off the used car lot (he indulged me). Keep it if there's any way to do it ... you don't want to be 71 years old on a YouTube video when your grandkids buy it back for you for $300,000, or whatever it will cost in 2057. Although those videos are very touching ....

Damn - if I were a really rich guy, I'd buy guy's project/dream cars off them, do a frame up restoration, then give the car back to them and put it on YouTube (and give the ad revenue to charity). Sold my '91 CRX Si for good money back in 1994, regret it every day. If you haven't seen this video:
It's what car people do. Another '66 Impala SS returned (the same car) to dad I can't find. But you get it.
