I should have known, if you have to pry apart a carburetor after removing all the screws that nothing but crushed hopes and broken dreams await inside. Here is what was waiting for me once I started tearing in to my $40 1977 Honda Express.
The bowl was rusted on and required the help of a screwdriver and hammer to get apart.
The needles are all fused in their passages
And this crud fills the bowl
On the bright side, I thought the spring starter system was shot but it appears to be in perfect working order. The oil tank apparently drained itself into the crankcase hydrolocking it and stopping the engine from rotating.... Great
When I took out the spark plug, the starter spring let go and shot about a cup of 2-stoke oil all over a wall on my porch.
Also all of the cables are 100% seized, the wheels do not turn (probably seized/rusted drum brakes), and the tank has more rust than the MCM Golf.

Sounds like a fun project.
Toss that Carb into a Coffee can filled with Pine Sol for a day or two.
It won't help with the water corrosion in the bowl but the rest of the Carb, it's passages and slide will be like new.

Agreed! My favorite use though is not cleaning engines, it's spraying down driveways/garage floors where spills happen. Amazing how it gets rid of oil stains.
