Mpg is so overrated. You learn to modify your driving habits. My beastly car gets about 12 MPG, but I don't drive it too much. It's garaged all week long and I get around on foot and with public transport. But on the weekends I take that bitch out. Just this weekend, I drove from San Diego to Las Vegas. It wasn't cheap, but car ownership never is. The way I see it, gasoline is meant to be burned. And I have so much fun with my car that I see no problem pinching pennies to splurge on what makes me happy. Smiles per gallon man.

I'd like to find a middle ground between prius and v12. Maybe an I6

Inline 6 is the motor of the gods. Consider a BMW, they make the best ones in the business. I have an e34 525i that is back in my hometown. Quiet, thrifty, powerful, and damn smooth. But in the end, I just wanted more power, so now I drive a V8. I'm working my way up to a V12 eventually though.

That ad does nothing but set off alarm bells in my head. Why is he selling it for so cheap?

Mileage really isn't that horrible on the later cars with the HE heads. I get 15mpg city and 22 highway wih my '84 XJ12...which was always kinda funny to me. My allroad was a 2.7L v6 with a 6 speed, the Jag has twice the engine (5.3L v12), half the gears (3 speed auto), AND 50 more HP and got the exact same mileage.

I get 18MPG average in my V12.
