Bought a glock 42 for personal carry. So far I like it. I have a full size 19 but found it was too large for everyday carry.

I see. I prefer rifles to hand guns. Then again I don't carry them around.

I bought a Springfield XDs a few months ago for personal carry. 9mm.
Bought and installed a new master-cylinder for my f150 tonight

I've always wanted a harpoon but I don't live in New England. Not that common in Atlanta.

Very nice! I'm itching to get my hands on a Glock 19, but my money has to go to more responsible places first haha I've got a Smith & Wesson .38 I can use in the meantime though.
Do you have your concealed carry license?

Nice! What's magazine capacity on that?
I'm starting to look myself but not sure what Glock I want just yet. Also heard S&W makes great handguns for lefties.

I do. I've had it for about a year now. My county is weird. To complete all the requirements for your concealed carry you have to go to the police station first then the probate court then back to the police station.
I was cross shopping the block 42 and the S&W Bodyguard. The block seemed to have a better trigger.

I've found with the mini-glocks I have to adopt an unusual hand position to shoot straight, but one I do that, they're fine. Not sure how readily I'd pull that off in a pinch without lots of practice.

The magazine is odd. It holds 6 + one in the chamber but it looks like they could have fit one more bullet.

Ya, I don't know where you are, but Missouri is the same way. Take the class, apply for the license, go to the county police station, apply again, wait for a response, wait some more...huge pain in the ass. I don't have my license to carry yet, but in Missouri you can keep your gun in your car without a problem. The S&W hangs out in the glovebox of whichever car I'm driving. With the Ferguson shit coming up I'm not leaving the house without my gun, as stupid as that sounds.

It's funny to think that you conceal & carry and I at the age of 29 have never even fired anything more than a bb gun.
I guess I have no need because Canada

I like the M&P compact better. Went in to get a flock but after holding those and an XD, the M&P fit my hands much better.

I think its more built into the culture here. I got my first rifle (ruger .22) when I was 10 and just kept going from there. First real gun was a benalli nova shotgun I bought when I was 20.

you 'mericans and your guns.... I have to keep mine in a lock box, unloaded, ammo stored in a different location. Can only transport from home to the firing range, and can only use it at firing ranges. Makes me wonder whats the point of giving out the licences in the first place.

The LC9 was there also. It felt really good but seemed heavy. My carry before the 42 was also a glock so I was trying to keep it in the family.

Every time Ferguson comes on the news its about more violence in the streets. I wouldn't get anywhere near Ferguson without a gun and a large gun at that.

Nice! We haven't had a Gunlopnik in a while. My carry piece is a Taurus 85. Fits in any pocket pretty easily. A little heavy for it's size because stainless steel, but I think I might eventually get one of the hammerless S&W Airweights.
Is your magazine restricted to six rounds because of state law?

Ferguson is bad news bears right now. Once that jury decides (guilty or not), it's going to be a shit storm around here. I go to UMSL which is about a mile away from Ferguson so, understandably, I don't like to go out there without my gun.

I tell people that if I didnt have the need for one I wouldn't carry it. Its stressful having to worry about carrying a gun. My job is delivering equipment for festivals and parties around town. Picture carnival equipment, bounce houses, tables and chairs. Its not that dangerous but it does bring me into seedy neighborhoods past midnight and usually in unlit lots.

No its more to do with size and keep the gun as thin as possible. The glock 19 holds 16 rounds. Not that you would ever need that many.

No, not everyday and not everywhere I go. I have two jobs. One is behind a desk so no, not carrying. The other job requires a lot of travel . Usually to not so good parts of town and at late hours. At my second job I always carry.

Are you living in a more rural part of the US? I just moved to New York and so far was disappointed by the lack of bullets flying through the air, but I heard that the country side is where the guns are concentrated.

The gun broker who sold me the 42 was telling me Glock is rumored to to have a 9mm with the same size frame in the works. That would be interesting.

A friend of mine got the LC9. I was really excited to shoot it, and was honestly pretty disappointed. The trigger pull was ridiculously long. Like "you may as well buy a revolver" long. I could not get used to it.

Sweet! I've been meaning to get my concealed carry, but I don't have any very concealable handguns, so it's difficult to justify until that happens. I think I'll get an LCP next year, then finally get my license.

Definitely get your concealed carry first! The LCP is a great gun. I've read good things about it.

No way of knowing for sure but just in my house, myself and my roommates carry on a regular basis. I think you would be surprised. A good portion of the population carries pretty much everywhere in the United States

Glocks are nice but i never cared for them. I have smaller hands than most guys and had some issue hitting the mag release.
I duty carry a M&P 40 and love it. I have a Springfield XD40 subcompact for CCW and backup. My wife loved my M&P so much she bought a 40 cal shield

I just admire the freedom to choose, plus, like you said, it's useful in some instances to be able to carry. I hunt and I'd feel a lot safer in the woods during bow or muzzleloader season if I could carry a handgun, just alone for the usefulness in a survival situation, much less for a bear/wolf encounter. Alas my fellow canucks think I'd murder everyone around me if I carried a gun. Cool .380 btw.

Cool! Why not the subcompacts though? I've only fired a 17, I have no idea how a 26 would feel, or any .380 for that matter.

I just happened across this post — I’m about to...ahem, pull the trigger on a Glock 19, but I haven’t tried carrying IWB yet. If it’s too big and awkward for everyday carry, then I might as well just go true full size (technically the 19 is a compact compared to the 17). But that 15+1 capacity compared to 6+1 for the subcompacts can make a big difference.
I’m not committed to concealed carry yet, I want to try it out at the range and keep it for home protection first (inside a small, quick-access lockbox — because kids) and taking it in the case when traveling for a while before I decide which way to go.
I really want ONE gun to do it all. If I’m going multiples, I’m going to get a 12-gau for home protection and a subcompact for EDC.
