...but here's another one for cheap near me. The guy says that he has it running, and from personal experience with these things, if it can get started, it will run and probably just needs a tuneup and some love. Chances are that it's beat to shit and has some rust in the usual spaces, but the guy sounds desperate to get rid of it, so will probably take significantly less than his asking price. If I had the space, I might try to rescue this one too, but I don't. Save the A-Dubs!

PS - If any South Florida Opponauts are actually interested in this but need some advice on them or want someone who knows these cars to check it out with you, I'm more than happy to help.

In Japan you can buy a second gen turbo for as low as 4000$... pretty insane considering that they are 220hp and 240hp for models after 1994...

Mr2s are CHEAP!

I've recommended them as track cars before, but was always met with outrage about how you can't find one, or you can only get one for stupid prices, but I see them everywhere. Most of them are pretty ugly, and yes, it will be expensive to get a really nice looking one or restore one to showroom quality, but if you're looking for a good cheap track car or fun and easy learner car or weekend car, it's pretty great. It's like a Miata (and certainly worthy of as much praise), but different.

They are GREAT cars indeed... Not for everybody though. I would definitly not recommend one as a first track car. Tricky on the edge. I might get one here in Japan... They are so damn cheap, it's totally worth it :)

I passed on a rock solid one for $700 in MA a few mins ago. The body was great, but the guy neglected to tell me that he had started parting it out, so there were no axles in the car. And it didn't run at the time. Too big of a risk, which sucked because I really wanted it.

Yup, this is one of those cars that can be found for cheap. IDK why people wouldn't believe you.

If you want a mint and clean one though you will be paying like 4000 which still is cheap.

Other super cheap cars are 924S, 300ZX (Z31), and Starions. I've seen all 3 in good working order for less than $2000

I picked up one in pretty good shape for $2500 last year, it's my DD/beater-esque car but once I graduate its getting turned into a track/autocross car. Great cars and there are definitely tons out there for not a lot of money
