You can get a Wrangler "delivery van" in Austria now (no rear seats, and no rear windows). According to !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , this configuration allows them to bypass the country's Value-Added-Tax, which adds a hefty 20% onto the price.
So, great news!! Now you can get your wife's anniversary present delivered all the way up to your remote chalet in the Austrian Alps!

Funny how turning a passenger vehicle into a "cargo vehicle" gets it past the taxes in Austria, while turning a cargo vehicle into a "passenger vehicle" does the same in the US.
I'm referring to the Ford Transit Connect (see the Cargo Van Conversion section): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Tran…

Ford got nailed by Customs on those Baltimore conversions, though. They passed a ruling that closes that loophole, essentially, and makes the commercial Transit Connects subject to the 25% tax, at least until Ford gets the ruling overturned.
Plus the current Transits are being built in Spain instead of Turkey, so Ford is now lobbying for a free trade agreement with the EU, while also asking that the Chicken Tax be kept in place as a protection against Japanese manufacturers.
